I've posted these before but I'd push for one of three different deals: 1.) Howard will be a Net, find a way to faciliatate the deal and get Lopez here. 2.) Bud/Thabeet/Dragic to Portland for Wallace 3.) Lowry/Scola/Filler for Rondo/Pierce
All sound pretty good to me. Nice trade ideas. What would it take to get Lopez, though? I'm not that high on him.
That does not sound like a bad idea. I just don't know if Pierce is the answer. I love the way he plays but for all we know he could come here and just half ass play thinking to himself that he's a Celtic and his days were there and he's ready to retire.
He's not the answer, he's the truth. Not sure how it would work, because who knows what happens with Howard. I would try to play Lopez as a PF. I just get the feeling he is a really good player stuck in a terrible franchise. I think he would do really well here.
He's still tryin to work that damn Gasol deal! He's tryin to find a pg the lakers want - to work a 3way (to take Martin and send pg to LA), so he can keep Lowry... if not, I think he's gonna ship Lowry. I've been a huge Morey supporter... but if he dumps a third of our cap (and a ton of assets - esp Lowry) into Pau Gasol... I will have lost all respect for the man. I hope I'm wrong.... fallback plan is Kamen...
Wait! So aiding in brokering a deal between Orlando and New Jersey for Howard somehow earns the Rockets Lopez, who's the only substantial piece that the Nets can bring in trade with Orlando in the first place? Portland doesn't need any of those 3 components (a SF when they already have Batun, a bust of a center in Thabeet who will be out of league soon and a point guard they could have in 2 months for a song). Or Boston trading Rondo after reminding everyone today that he's one of the top 5 PGs in the league and giving up on an institution like Pierce? For what? Lowry and Scola?? Ainge would be hung in effigy by the Celtic faithful. None of these will materialize.
Marshon Brooks and most importantly the NJ pick (and ours) you just ignored for whatever reason. Reports out that Orlando doesnt like Lopez. There is opportunity there. They desperately need a PG. Bud could play SG easily. Thabeet is only filler. They are done with Rondo. Writing on the wall there. PP is a block in thier offseason plans due to his huge salary next season. Have faith.
I think Orlando would prefer to receive Brook Lopez, then anything we have to offer, in any trade scenerio for Dwight Howard. With that said I think if a Dwight Howard trade doesn't come to fruition for the Nets, we should make a full persuit of Brook Lopez, and I think a deal like this could get it done: Scola and Dalembert for Lopez and Humphries(8 million expiring) With a PF like Scola who can knock down the mid range jumper and help with scoring inside the paint, could (along with retaining D-Will) help the Nets lure Dwight Howard this summer.
I agree that pursuit of Lopez would make sense for the Rockets in that scenario but there is now way if I'm NJ I'm seeing Scola and Dalembert as anything approximately close to fair value return for Lopez. I don't know why if I'm NJ I'm even motivated to trade him any longer if the Howard deal is dead, but it certainly wouldn't be for those two journeyman types. And Howard isn't going to land somewhere temporarily via a trade and then move a second time next summer. He's just too expensive to be a rental. The Lakers would pass on him unless they had committed assurances that he was staying longer term.
No such link available unless you're willing to accept some idiot ESPN blogger's opinion. The same things have been blogged about Orlando supposedly not liking Lopez or Andrew Bynum or apparently anything else that the talking heads think the should be interested in. It's all ridiculous speculation.
Doubt now if Lopez will be much of a factor with this occurring earlier today on top of his broken foot. Not great for NJ's trade hopes with Orlando either. "Brook Lopez rolled his right ankle "really bad" during Sunday's game and did not return in the second half -- he did have X-rays but the Nets won't update his status until Monday."
Well, first of all I think Lopez will probably be the center piece of a trade in order to get Howard to the Nets. So, I doubt we will see him in a Rockets uniform. Trading for Wallace isn't a bad idea and I think we have a very good chance offering that package (maybe throw in a draft pick). The could start Batum (and resign him), while Bud will be the back-up SF (Bud can also play at SG). Thabeet is an expiring contract and Dragic could be the answer at PG for them. Rondo and Pierce for Lowry/Scola/filler (T-Will/Flynn) is very unlikely, IMO. Rondo played awesome last night with a huge triple-double game ... and Pierce was very clutch against the Knicks. Lowry is not an upgrade over Rondo and Pierce has always been the face of the Celtics, so trading him for Scola/T-Will/Flynn and a draft pick would shock me (and the Celtic fans).
What smells worse than a turd that has sunken to the bottom of the bowl? A floater. Lets flush this floater of a team and start with a fresh clean bowl.
Is it just me or is it a little weird that the deadline is in 10 days and not one trade has gone down? Only one trade has gone down since the start of the season.
What about dangerous floaters?? [[not sure how they fit the analogy, but they always talk about them in tennis draws]]
Eagerly counting down. We desperately need some Morey magic. We have to fight off Portland and Utah on one hand. On the other hand - Minny can be a definite top 8 in West if they make better trades then us.
