    TWolves/Rockets/Lakers

Twolves get: Kevin Martin, Samuel Dalembert
Lakers get: Goran Dragic, Luis Scola, Michael Beasley
Rockets get: Pau Gassol, Nicola Pekovic, Brad Miller

Perhaps throw the Knicks pick to the Twolves also if needed.

Lakers would never do that trade.

That's the best package LA would get for Gasol.

I can see them perhaps getting other intriguing offers, but saying they would never do the trade seems a bit harsh.

Scola serves as Pau lite. Dragic gives them the young PG they need. Beasley also is on their wish list.

    What am I missing?

Almost=key word. Unless the Magic become desperate to deal Howard, Beasley and Dragic are upgrades to the pg and sf spots and Scola is a minor downgrade. In the last few games of last season, Dragic did pretty good when he started.

If anything, Minny would never do that trade. Pekovic is becoming untouchable after each game played. I think Ppat would have to go to Minny for them to let go of Pekovic

Trade still works with Patterson involved.

I think I'd still do it if I was Houston.

beasley and pau gasol are looking to happen. Kaman would be smartest choice for me since expiring. beasley is excellent scorer and needs to be starting in Miny. Pau is a 7ft player that can score and rebound but he isnt a good fit for us. Teams like bobcats are itching to trade and gerald henderson is lesser known but excellent replacement for kmart AND better defense.

Not harsh at all. In the past two days the Lakers just turned down Kahn and Minnesota's offer to trade them Beasley for a first round pick proving that they don't need a three way trade arrangement involving Houston to say no to Beasely.

Beasely was interesting for the right price. But Minnesota paid two second round picks for him, so there's no way the Lakers will let Minnesota fleece them by paying with a first rounder for a guy on an expiring that they are looking to dump at the right price.

Dragic is a backup point guard on an expiring as well. The Lakers could have him if they wanted him for far less than a player like Gasol. Worst case they wait until the summer.

Scola could prove helpful in a situation where the Lakers traded Gasol and got what they really want in return which is a high profile, star powered point guard like Lowry or Rondo. Absent that though, he's best case a serviceable but aging PF on a lengthy, expensive contract. Not enough reason to inherit him in exchange for a far superior player in Gasol.

The only way a deal like this even begins to make sense without Lowry included is if the Lakers are dumping salary and then they sure as heck wouldn't want Scola in the package.

Trade Scola and Martin for a bag of chips, and extra seats at the Toyota Center.

Houston trade - Scola, Dalembert, Lowry, Kmart, Bud, Pat, Parsons, fillers( Thabeet, Jhill, Twill), rights to Motiejunas & Llull, NYK pick, two 2nd rd pick
in - Dwight, Jsmith, Turk, Darko, Randolph fillers(Orton, Wafer, Radmanovic, Stackhouse, Pargo)

Orlando trade - Dwight, Turk, fillers(Orton, Wafer, Liggins)
in - Scola, Dalembert, Lowry, D.Williams, filler(Thabeet) rights to Motiejunas & Llull, NYK pick, two 2nd rd pick

Minnesota trade - D.Williams, Darko, Randolph
    in - Kmart, Bud, filler(Liggins)

Atlanta trade - Jsmith, fillers(Radmanovic, Stackhouse, Pargo)
in - Pat, Parsons, fillers(Jhill, Twill)

    Houston

    Dwight-Jsmith-Randolph-Lee-Dragic

    Orlando
    Dalembert-Scola-D.Williams-Redick-Lowry

    Minnesota

    Pekovic-Love-Beasley-Kmart-Rubio

    Atlanta

    Horford-Pat-Parsons-Johnson-Hinrich

why for Houston - to get the no.1 center Dwight plus Jsmith & Lee are friends of Dwight, so Dwight might want to stay, Randolph is quick enough to play sf, amnesty Turk. :p

why for Orlando - they get top 10 pg almost an all-star Lowry, a young sf with high potential in D.Williams, veteran players in Scola & Dalembert, NYK pick & two 2nd rd pick, rights to Motiejunas & Llull.

why for Minnesota - they already got a solid front tandem in Pekovic & Love, adding Kmart with Rubio plus Beasley, they got a strong starting 5.

why for Atlanta - cap space plus two young players with cheap contract & have potential to be good players.

fillers for salaries matching and roster space.

    Williams/Dragic
    Lee/T-Will
    Parsons/Budinger
    Scola/Smith
    Lopez/Dalembert

Why NJ does it: D-Will won't sign an extension, and Brook Lopez is about to get VERY expensive. This gives them a full rebuild around a budding star PG in Lowry on a great contract, a few interesting youngs in Patterson/Morris/Hill, and Martin to keep them competitive and be a valuable expiring contract at next year's deadline.

Why HOU does it: The back court is about as strong with Williams, Dragic, and Lee, and the front court gets a lot better by adding Lopez. The only real loss is PF depth but Motiejunas should fix that. Also, we can start running some two center sets with Lopez + Dalembert on occasion. McHale ought to love that.

Alternative deal for if Howard hardballs his way into New Jersey:

HOU also sends 1st round pick
NJ also sends 1st round pick

Why NJ does it: They get to pair Deron Williams with Dwight Howard, deerrrrp

Why ORL does it: Nets them more picks, salary relief, a couple first round picked young guys, and a name-recognition scorer who can be flipped at next year's trade deadline for another first round pick. Spreads out their risk among four first round prospects instead of gambling everything on a guy just coming off an injury (Brook Lopez).

You can't amnesty someone after they are traded..so we would be "stuck" with Turkoglu
