No, George is a SG and they'd lose a really good SF. They'd only do it for a SF or a great PG by packing up Collison+Granger I think.
P. George is actually a SF. He might be listed on ESPN as a SG, but he's 6'8" 215 lbs (would probably need to gain a bit more weight) and it was previously reported that the Pacers are open to shopping Granger because they believe George is their future. They are looking for a SG upgrade, but agree with you that Martin is unlikely as they are aiming to pick up E. Gordon.
George is a natural 3, but he's playing the 2 due to him needing to start and they already have Granger at the 3.
Nobody can figure out what the Rockets have in terms of assets. Until some of the more recent lottery kids can show what they have (Patterson, Morris) it appears that the only valuable trade asset is Lowry. Everyone else is best case - ho hum. And for anyone to imagine that the trade pieces are in place to pull in a Howard or a D Williams is just delusional. Cap space but that isn't until after the season and that will be true for about 20 other clubs as well.
My guarantee is Luis Scola leaving the team one way or another. This is the last year the guy will have any value whatsoever. At the moment it's barely canceling out the amount of his salary, and we probably could get minor minor pieces + an expiring contract straight up for him. Next year it would take US giving up assets to have someone take on Luis Scola's contract. That's why we trade him this year. Some playoff contender thinks they need a more reliable big man at the four spot, someone who can make a jump shot and still has a good touch around the rim. That's Scola. They'll bite the bullet the next two years to get this one good half-year out of him.
ALOT of tax paying teams are looking to load off some good players so they wont have to share profit with nontax teams like houston. Rockets have the cap and the players ot make more than 1 deal. I hope morey does his job this season
How would people feel if the Rockets were to find a way to acquire both Kamen and Gasol? Next year our front court would be Dalembert Gasol Kamen DMo That would certainly be much different than what we have now and likely much better. If we could get those guys buy giving up KMart, Scola, PPat, Morris and some others not including KLow, Lee, Parsons etc...
After watching our team fight their butts off, Im gonna hate to see anybody go! Ill get over it if it's a really good deal though
After losing 3 straight, I'm totally looking forward to a major shake-up so long as it's for a bonafide star.
Unfortunately, I think Scola is as good as gone. It will be a deal that Morey will later regret, both statistically and financially. In my opinion, with a semi-rebuilding team, the most sensible deal would be to acquire a reliable veteran big with an expiring contract or for a year or two. That helps us with this season and provides room for the summer. Ideally, I'd like the Rockets to trade Jordan, Hasheem and T-Will( who won't be back regardless ) to the Hornets for Kaman. Or, a combination of K-mart and the 09ers for Danny Granger. (Pipe Dream) Keep it simple. Acquire a reliable big man that can shoot, rebound and defend, and see how far this current group can go in a condensed season. Dwight isn't coming here. D-Will isn't coming here. WHile I hope I'm wrong, Morey would be an idiot to trade too much of our roster right now unless it's for one of those guys. I don't think a superstar is viable this year. Gasol would be devastating for the overall price that's being asked for him. If Morey folds everything for Pau, he's lost his focus for the current season and improving the team for years to come.
No movement so far. Teams only have a little over a week left. Surprised but not such a great sign for the Rockets with this lack of movement.
Here is another suggestion for Morey. Look it the Lakers want Micheal Beasley? Then the Rockets should want him too while he is this cheap. Go get him. He is cheap to get right now and loads of potential.
...T-Will has loads of talent, too. How does Super Cool Beas help the Rockets? We have his position covered pretty much... Pat, Scola, Jordan etc...
