How can they NOT HAVE A CLUE, when he was in training camp and playing every single day? How bad can McHale and Morey be at evaluating talent when they couldn't see what they had? No excuses, none...you keep talent over contracts.....period. DD
I'm not gonna get into that whole Lin arguement... The only point I'm making (contrary to your assertion) - signing Sam did not have any impact on retaining Lin - end of story...
You haven't had much education have you? That's ok, a lot of people don't. Let me help you out: There's a CF phenomenon called Lin's law that states: "As a ClutchFans' thread grows longer, the probability of a Lin citation, even when it's not pertinent, approaches 1." Learn it by heart and report back to me.
Youve never run a BUSINESS, youve been a techie who got lucky enough to retire early and live out your dream being a grown up child. You keep contracts over TALENT whenever the long game calls for it. The NBA isnt some conglomeration of 1 year deals, we have to keep a minimum salary + keep pieces other teams may want and salary that can be thrown in for trade. Lin, believe it or not, would never have beaten out Lowry...who just received a new deal last off season...do you know why? Because Lowry just received a new deal last off season. So why cut or trade our leader for some unproven PG? You wouldnt. I just **** my pants due to you.
your quote from 2/9.... funny, it doesnt mention Sam as being the reason for Lin being cut.... "I think Morey wanted to keep him - which is why they held on to him so long..... The problem was in keeping Adrien, now what has to happen in Greg Smith has a better career than Lin or we will NEVER hear the end of it. Sort of like the Spurs and Scola. DD"
Wrong, I have owned and run 4, still own and run one. I hire techies.....stop acting like you know me, when you have no ****ing clue - as usual. Last post about this, but the Rockets kept Jeff Adrien over Lin then cut him. People are making excuses for Morey because they like his stats approach. I like Morey, but there are no excuses in business, and IMO, letting Lin go was a massive **** up..... And Dalembert was a waste of a signing too......not a difference maker.....should have kept the cap room. DD
If the nature of the meeting was Dalembert telling others to play harder without first and foremost acknowledging his own lack of effort, then I agree with you. I think having a team discussion where everyone accepts responsibility for their recent play is a good thing, though. It shouldn't just be one guy talking down to the rest.
You know, at this point they HAVE to make a trade just to improve team chemistry. This organization is lost. Confusing days to be a fan.
Picked up 12/12. Released 12/24. 12 days, where we had him. Probably wasn't doing anything in those 12 days to show he was as good as he has shown with the knicks. 12 days where he probably looked just about as good as flynn in practice and for sure nothing that would show he would challenge lowry or dragic for real minutes. I just don't get the infuriation. Either you really dislike our GM and coach and our fishing for ammo to crucify them or you are just being your normal contrarian self.
He's a "results" guy. Luck into great results = genius. Miss out on great results = termination. I would be interested in knowing exactly how DD would go about hiring a GM. I can't think of a single one who didn't mess up talent evaluation at some point. Certainly, all 30 other current GM's missed out on Lin including the Knicks. He just happened to be standing there as a last option at the very end of their bench. DD....how would you hire a GM that would last more than a season? Serious question?
I agree with Dada to this extent. I'm still wondering what the purpose Jeff Adrien had here besides possibly Morey having some massive trade leaving us with a need for a backup pf. I have ro think that was the case. We definitely saw something about Ln that made us pick him up off the waiver wire.
Just speculating, but I think the Rockets have been looking to trade Scola and maybe also Jordan Hill, if there are takers. I liked what Adrien could bring in terms of toughness and defensive intensity, from what little I saw of him in preseason. He showed some of that in his last game with us, as well. I'm guessing his relationship with Finch and that he left his team in Europe for a shot at making our team also was a factor.
All they probably want to hear from Dalembert is an apology for becoming a piece of furniture. His recent play won't motivate anyone except the Rocket's opponents.
Why is everything that has to do with roster moves HAVE to do with a "massive trade"? Is it possible we just kept Adrien as assurance, and not because some "massive trade"? Come on people. Not every move is a major one
Are you serious? Dalembert has won the Rockets several games this season, hes a decent shot blocker, has done good job vs players like Aldrige. His contract is very cheap for a shotblocker and it could be a 1 year contract if they choose. Are you still serious about that signing being bad?
