dude I had Chick Fil A yesterday because of this thread alone. now I'm moving on towards the cliched incest comparison that bigtexxx just espoused. you forgot the bestiality comparison. 'the right to marry the opposite sex'- like Michelle Bachmann's husband, right? what a complete joke.
The more you argue against the right for gays to marry, the more you display your bigotry against gays. We know that there are health risks off spring of incest. Sorry but your attempts are all weak and you know they've been debunked before.
Well, that's essentially my point; this thread is full of fail. How can you support the dirty deeds of one company without examining closely all other companies you purchase from for the same or similar dirty deeds? I suppose it's OK to pick and choose who gets a pass based on whatever supports your own personal agenda? The other poster you point to, well, he's just being more honest than I believe some others profess themselves to be. I'm not defending Chic-fil-a; just pointing out this isn't a special case. Also, my sister-in-law is living with a gay woman and raising a baby together. They do a fantastic job of caring for my nephew and if they were to get married one day it wouldn't bother me one bit. My wife brought this whole issue up a while back and has boycotted Chic-fil-a ever since, but never resorted to calling me a bigot when I eat there. BTW - I'd also fully support you and Sam getting hitched and would throw you guys a wedding shower.
i think his point is that people also know about the behavior of companies like apple, nike and others that take advantage of chinas virtual slave labor practices, but dont boycott them. (for the record, i dont own an iphone and have never even touched an ipad). do yall want to boycott california too since they voted down gay marriage...if so try my dad's homestate of iowa - it is lovely this time of year! you can visit field of dreams, a fish hatchery, the entertainment district of bustling des moines, the bridges of madison county and the largest catholic basilica west of the mississippi! i think his point is that its "selective" moral outrage. i didnt attack anyone...http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6668229&postcount=37 although i dont agree w/ chick fil-a's position on da gays, i think i offered a defense from the consumer perspective. i dont have a problem at all eating there and will continue to do so. when it comes to fast food my political agenda does not figure into it. i look at overall cleanliness, attitude of employes, consistent quality of food and those kind of things...and when it comes to fast food chick fil-a is top notch. if mcdonalds started donating to ron paul tomorrow im not going to all of a sudden start eating there...its nasty food. i dont believe that you have to agree w/ a business, musician, actor, ect to enjoy their work...its like when the dixie chicks said they were ashamed that president bush pretends he is from texas - and all those soccer moms boycotted them. did they like the dixie chicks for their music or b/c they thought natalie maines shared their politics?
I have noticed that when one disagrees with a leftist, they automatically start insulting you as a bigot. When they don't have a better argument, they can always resort to the "you are morally beneath me if you disagree with me" outrage card.
very true. As I've said before, when one has to resort to insults, you've lost any argument you're engaged in. Every time I see them hurling insults, I know who the winner is. (not them)
BS. It is when someone advocates discriminatory practices against a subset of our society that the left (or anyone with a brain) calls that person a bigot. That is the definition of bigotry. And bigots absolutely are morally beneath those that do not advocate discrimination nor practice it themselves. I expect you are not against equal rights for gays but are instead just bringing in some butt hurt from all the flak you get when you try to tar all Muslims with the same radical brush. Sorry but yes that is also wrong. Instead of wasting another post, I'll go ahead and say this here: I dearly hope that last post I made in response to bigtexxx's request for clarification is the last time I waste even a minute thoughtfully responding to him since, like basso, he always demands explanation but steadfastly refuses to return the favor (ATW at least is not like this). It's been clear from the start that texxx is not interested in sincere discourse but is rather a cartoon character tossing off posts like Yosemite Sam firing his guns into the air so it was indeed my bad for getting sucked in again.
Gays will have the legal right to marry in all 50 states within ten years. Then we will see who the winner is. Hint: neither you nor your bigoted brethren. SCOREBOARD.
LMAO are you kidding me? You tell ATW that it's BS about hurling insults, then you hurl insults at me in the very same post? NO CREDIBILITY (but seriously, unintended humor is always the funniest type)
The real problem is the many liberals, possibly yourself included, do not respect others' moral codes. Many people's moral codes, as evidenced by votes on the very topic, suggest that they are not OK with a man marrying another man, or a woman getting married to another woman. Similarly, many people are not morally OK with having a man marry a 14 year old girl, or their sister (although you could argue health risks on that one). You do not respect others' beliefs, but instead call them bigots. Many of those beliefs are based upon their deep seeded religious beliefs, which have stood for thousands of years.
look at the comparisons you are making, man. in such an insulting, flippant manner nonetheless. talk about exposing yourself.
I have noticed that when one advocates or approves of policies that discriminate and are bigoted such as allowing one group of citizens to have privileges denied another group of citizens based on nothing other than lifestyle and who they are, then that those people are seen as bigoted. That's as it should be. I've also noted that when people on the right are called out for their stances that are clearly bigoted they whine and complain and try to hide behind the defense of "too much political correctness, or the left just calls anyone who disagrees with them a bigot." It's a cheap way to not face up to their support of bigoted policy.
You are falling into the same pitfalls you always do. Comparing two consenting adults who happen to be gay to someone guilty of pedophilia shows that you are in fact anti-gay and bigoted as well. You have shown your true colors yet again. Please mark this post and keep it in your favorites so that you never have to pretend you haven't posted any anti-homosexual posts on this board. You have been exposed, and you've done it all yourself.
nope. you are missing the point it's all about subjective moral codes. re-read the thread, but this time for comprehension
So wait: - someone opposes gay marriage -> the leftists scream: he is a bigot - someone criticizes the Saudi government and other governments in Islamic countries for murdering and discriminating gays -> the leftists scream: he is a bigot
No. I'm all about criticizing the Saudi government for murdering and discriminating against gays. They should be criticized. I've never been a fan of the Saudi government for decades. Their policy is bigoted. So is the policy of others who don't want gays to have the same marital rights as heterosexuals.
