Hey, what does everybody think of Ron Paul? This thread is to create one handy place for all discussions about his campaign and his ideas and all the ways in which he keeps getting cheated by the media and everybody and how he's secretly winning or he has 20% or he didn't get enough time at that one debate. Whatever you want. Post that stuff here. My work is done.
I think he's a fringe candidate, who's apt to do to the Republican Party what Ralph Nadir did to the Democrats in 2000. He means well, in my opinion, but has some positions that simply do not fit the America of today. Perhaps President Obama could appoint him Surgeon General during his second term. That would at least be interesting. Good idea for a thread, Batman. However did you get the idea!
He is the only candidate that when talks I find myself constantly nodding my head and saying 'Finally, yes!' as far as his 12 term record I also have found that I agree with the votes he has made in a percentage that completely overwhelms any other congressman's voting record. While there are few votes I may disagree with him on, percentage wise and especially on the things that are most important to me I have found that he voted towards my viewpoint even if he was the only one voting that way. However this thread is not needed, we have a thread already in the GOP- as far as I'm aware he is still a candidate.
I'm interested in Ron Paul. I just need more info. Does anyone have vid clips of his speeches? If so, post them here so I can view them in one spot. Thanks.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6MY4HTQRfGM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> You can find a ton more on youtube. He basically gives the same stump speech everytime (end the Fed, end the Wars, less government, etc.)....
I like his fiscal policies. He is for extremely small government. While I don't completely agree with it, I can live with his stance on drugs. The problem I have with him is foreign policy. I believe his isolationist ideas are extremely naive and would be very bad for the country in the long run.
Ron Paul is the one of the first candidates outside of the democratic party that I have somewhat supported. Still hoping the crazy right-wingers eventually get dissolved but not Ron Paul. I'm not exactly sure if I like his extremely small government approach, but I do love his isolationist ideology. (Keep it mind its just military isolation; obviously) No way he'll win though. Was hoping he'd run Libertarian so he could split the votes for the Republican and Libs so Obama could win... But whatever.
Think of all the money we would save by becoming isolationists- no food for N. Korea, no free money to Egypt and hundreds (perhaps) of other nations - no involvememnt- no reason for them to "hat us" . . .we could give our hungry the free food, and give us free money.
If he was a little younger, had better speaking skills and had won a statewide election or two; he'd probably resemble an ascendant Ronald Reagan. But at this point, he's just a mascot for uninformed or impractical outsiders, or just really bored white guys.
This thread = mainstream politics. <iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Tb5aGgQXhXo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Yes, so is Fred Karger. And T-Will is still a Rocket. But there aren't one or three posters making every other post in game threads about T-Will. He has his own thread for spammers to post in. Now Paul does too. ToyCen=DaDakota on V-Span.
I would agree with that too, strongly. But I'd just as soon evidence of such didn't account for so many posts in the main primary thread as to overwhelm it. Ergo, this one. It's up to the Paulites whether or not to use it. Of course.
Not really. You don't hear Gingrich getting a whole lot of coverage these days, do you? It's because he's not relevant. What are the media supposed to report about Paul these days? ESPECIALLY since as NMS can admit, Paul's stump speech is pretty much always the same. Paul is losing in Polls? Paul rails against Fed? Paul rails against big government? Paul is a racist *******? (wait, nvm, negative coverage is bad.) Media reports stuff that is new. Paul isn't. He's giving the same speech that he has for thirty something years. Besides, even IF the media aren't covering Paul fairly, so what? It's the free market. The media have the right to cover whomever they like, it's in the Constitution. So what's there to complain about?
Latest polling averages: Romney 36.7% Santorum 27.3% Gingrich 15.3% Paul 9.7% http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep.../republican_presidential_nomination-1452.html
