Why not? Brooks wasn't the answer and Telfair sure isn't. If they upgrade at point guard in any sort of way they need to do it because nash is just too old.
IMHO we need a big badly, and the answer isn't Pau Gasol. That dude's old, soft, and loves playing for LA. We trade for him and we end up with Lamar Odom ver2. We should be going after Marcin Gortat instead. Don't let the 6M contract full you, that guy's basically a younger, cheaper and healthier version of Nene. Isn't afraid to bang inside, very dedicated defender, and has enough hops/skill/bball IQ to be an all around threat. He can hit short-range Js, run around, dunk and finish.Even better, he loves playing for defensive teams (complained about PHX's lack of D when he got there), and he almost signed with Houston before. Houston gets: Marcin Gortat, Childres, Frye PHX gets: Luis Scola, Dalembert, Williams, Morris, NYC's pick Why Houston does this: Gets out from Luis Scola's salary, Gortat, and a backup big and starter wing in Childress/Frye. Frye plays as soft as wet tissue paper however his ability to hit 3s can be useful. Childress is basically a longer and more athletic version of Courtney Lee. Why PHX does this: Getting Morris would reunite the twins, and they will get out of the dumb contracts they gave to Childress and Frye. Scola would give them another scorer to play off of Steve Nash, and who knows, with a genius playmaker like Nash alongside him Scola might get revitalized. Dalembert gives them a stopgap C, and save them even more money. PHX can use the pick, or (like they always do) sell it for cash.
Except that Gortat is averaging more points and rebounds than Nene... he is actually a tall man's version....
Sixerfan1976 of realgm is an insider for the Philly board and well respected there. He reports that Evan Turner is quietly on the block for a scorer and also claims that Monte Ellis and Kevin Martin are two players long coveted by the team. He speculates that a Turner-Martin deal has likely be discussed within the organization.
I see where you're going with this and in large part agree that Gortat would be a very good player fit in Houston. I just don't see anything all that compelling about what you're offering there that would make Phoenix want to deal. They need a big just as much Houston. Why would they trade their's away just to have to go find another one someplace else? It would take a star player to pull Gortat away I believe.
Here is a four way - looks like a WIN FOR ALL Rockets in G.Wallace / N. Pekovic / D. Cousins out K. Martin / L. Scola / S. Dalenbert / C. Budinger / any of the '09'ers / NYK pick / Minnie's 2 round pick T-Wolves in K. Martin / G. Oden / C. Budinger / their 2nd round pick (Houston) / (Portland's 2nd round pick if needed) out M. Beasley / N. Peckovic / A. Randolph Trail Blazers in S. Dalembert / A. Randolph out G. Wallace / G. Oden / (2nd round pick needed) Kings in M. Beasley / L. Scola / any of the '09'ers (they are so far under the cap - just pick and choose) / NYK pick / (Portland's 2nd round pick if needed) out D. Cousins If this were to happen I think it would be the first 20+ player trade - LOL
Need to pull of a multi team trade where we net the expiring contracts of Kaman and Diaw by giving up Scola and all 5 2009ers. Kaman, Diaw and Dalembert will clear almost $30 mil of our roster. We can make a strong push for playoffs this season and be in good position for free agency.
how about scola and hasheem + twill for Durant? it works for both teams ! why the rockets do it? they need a scorer at that position. =/
That would be a very interesting deal. Don't see Philly moving Vucevic though. However, hopefully they would have interest in a deal like that. I liked Vicevic during the draft.

Evan Turner for Martin is something I would go for. I always check box scores of 76ers games as I like to follow AI. Turner is inconsistent but has some good games. It seems from what I know, he is more of a small forward though. Or at least I thought. But it would give us a building block for the future. Hopefully we would not get T-Willed by the trade.
