Thank God he is ok. He took a nasty fall & it could've been a tragic injury. Lucky Pat is built tough. The question is, should he be the starter on our squad, and what is his true worth to our ball club? Show your love to Patsquash!
He seems still bothered by his ankle surgery. Perhaps he won't get his explosiveness back until having an offseason to really rehab and strengthen his legs. Pat just seems a step slow this season. Good to hear he is OK after the fall, it looked dangerous.
Agree. He only has 2 dunks this year, that's utterly ridiculous. Something that strikes me about Patterson is how well balanced he is during his jumps. Watch this highlight reel and see how many times he jumps off of one foot. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JfgU4ndQ2Jc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Compare that to someone like Josh Smith: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/c4Vt3o6pxc4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Who's generally a one-footed jumper. While Smith might be less affected if his off-ankle was injured, when going off two feet exclusively, your jump is only going to be as strong as your weakest leg; Pat probably won't have the time to balance out his body during this crazy season, but I really expect a bounceback after a good offseason of rest. With how money his jumper is getting, there's no reason why he can't play in the league for 15 years ala Kurt Thomas or post-surgery McDyess.
We all bash on Scola for being a poor defender .... But Patterson is much like Scola in that he is a good defender but not a good "Post" player. He can hit jumpers with consistency but outside of that , he leaves a lot to be desired offensively. Too bad we cant stick him and Scola in a blender and come out with a player with Scola's offensive game and Pattersons size & defense .... optimal PF.
That fall yesterday looked really bad, especially for a big man. If you watch the rockets game you can see how patterson has improved on his post game, the only thing is that he is not dunking the ball anymore. there may be a reason for that, but he will be a starter soon. he has a lot of potential with these coaches working with him. he looks like he almost has the dream shake down.
If we could have the same Patterson back from last year in the next year I will be ecstatic. When he shoots mid range, elbow jumpers I feel like it goes in every time. I miss the dunk highlight reels but given his injury he has to think to himself that if he can hit the jumpers all day long and play good defense, he will be a starter soon enough. Scola will be on his way out soon enough (Hopefully) so Patterson can start. I just hope he can stay healthy. That is the obvious plus side of Scola. He has hardly missed a game since he has been here.
He plays to small. He has the ability and the physique to play big and nasty but he just doesn't. He gives off a weak aura out their. If he played with the same motor as Kenneth Faried he would be actually be a threat.
so relieved to hear pp will be okay! what a tough guy - his birthday is coming up on march 14th - everybody make sure he feels the love on twitter @pdpatt
Patterson is avg .402 FG% since Feb 12. He had that amazing shooting run for a month from mid-Jan to mid-Feb. In the two games since that fall he's shooting 3-13 (23% FG).
