The guy looks like he has completely run out of gas. Not only that, he's completely stopped rebounding, defending, or hustling. He looked like a rock in the paint at the beginning of the season, far from it now. I miss the Chuckwagon!
He needs to be benched. Too bad we have no one to replace him with. Hill is injured and greg smith would last 5 minutes starting because of the fouls
His rebounding and energy has been appalling. But he still has an impact under the rim. Did you see how many layups he challenged and changed tonight? If he brings the complete package every night - rebounding, hustle and energy along with his interior presence - this team would look completely different.
Dalembert will change the Rockets fortune Meh signing then, meh now. Nothing to change the outlook of the Rockets.
Dalembert = 10 to 15 games with snippets of greatness per season, enough to tease and tantalize the average Joe fan, 10 to 15 games of non-factor mediocrity, picking up some boards and garbage paint points with dunks and putbacks, and the rest of the season he plays fair to poor, committing stupid knucklehead fouls and taking stupid, dumb shots that he can't make with any efficiency whatsoever, regressing down to a total numskull on the court as the trade deadline approaches, playing like total crap through the trade deadline, and then attempting to restart his season after the trade deadline passes but unfortunately too dumb to catch up with all the playoff team bigs as they play circles around his dunceness. Thank goodness we can opt out of him for a cool $1.5 mil.

You know how, back in January, Bill and Clyde were always talking about how Les Alexander pushed for Dalembert's signing? They have not mentioned it a single time recently as far as I can remember. Hmmm...
This is who he has been his whole career guys. He's a starting center who plays about 25 min. a night, give you 6 to 8 pts, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and does not finish games usually. Morey knew that he was only a band aid for the season to help out the perimeter players. Thats why he was given the contract he was given and nothing more. If the Rockets make moves, which they will, that brings back someone like Kaman or Gasol, you will be surprised what Dalembert can do in short spurts when he comes off the bench or plays in situations where they go big to crowd the paint. If Dalembert is your only option at center.... your in trouble.
Chuck Hayes is only playing 20 mpg and the Kings are not really competing for a playoff spot. I wonder if they'd mind letting us have him back. I really miss the guy.
Very true. Bill loves to bring that up. Morey obviously knew Dalembert's history enough to know that he wasnt going to be finishing games like in the past and that starting Hill instead wouldn't make that big of a difference since the majority of the minutes would be played by Scola and Patterson. Kudos to Morey for being patient to get the good contract that didn't hamper the Rockets salary cap going forward. Good compromise for the coach and owner. Lets face it, this was more of a keep ya quiet present to the coach then the owner.
You know, when the Kaman trade story first broke, I didn't think there is an urgent need for him given how Dalembert was playing. Man, can we use a Kaman just now.
Will you guys seriously give up on the shorter version of Hasheem Thabeet. Chuck Hayes is not the answer obviously from watching all of last season. He's not going to help the perimeter defense which is where the problem really lies. He can shut down any post player one on one, but he cant make up for everyone elses short comings. However, if the Rockets aquire another big like Gasol, and still retain Dalembert I would love to get Chuck back even at his price tag. I like him as a combo big where you can play him in different types of lineups. He's not your centerpiece big though playing 40 min a night. Especially not at his price have the Chuckwagon playing on "only one spoke."
Yeah I agree. If it was just the Knicks pick that was holding up the deal now looking back I wish they would have just done the deal already. The Knicks pick is just going to get back another 15 to 20th pick rotation player, good or bad, I value the ability to have a starting front court that can actually crowd the paint in certain situations, and having another low post threat on offense to take pressure off of outside shooters like Martin. This team has become a perimeter shooting team, and their only post threat, Scola, only decides to post up in the first quarter.
