our perimeter players have to contribute to the boards as well. not just the big guys.

martin averaging 2.8 rebounds per game is pathetic

6.2 rebounds per game for scola is embarrassing for a starting power forward.

Hill is not the answer. He is even more inconsistent then SammyD.

Well he can't really shoot or space the floor, so to me he is basically a PF.

Yeah he tore us up tonight but that's what happens when McHale decides to go small and play Scola in the 4th.

    SCOLA IS NOT A CENTER!!!

Why McHale does that just kills me.

McHale is an idiot. He basically lost us the game by replacing Dally with Luis

Martin will never be a rebounder. He doesn't have the strength to box out very well on defense and his style of play on offense will never put him in good position for rebounds. You can't really make him rebound better--he does the best he can with what he's got.

Guys, learn basketball. He's better guarding the center position then the other post player (usually the guy "listed" as the PF) because of his inability to come out on screens, and rotate effectively. He actually is quite good at defensive rebounds because he generally boxes out pretty well. Almost all of the offensive rebounds from tonights game (vs. Denver) came when the shot missed by Denver and went out to the perimeter or outside the paint.

The other team was getting so many offensive rebounds but the Rockets perimeter players were not putting a body on their man and Denver was sending everyone to the glass for the offensive rebounds. So it mostly comes down to hussle of guys like Martin, Parsons, Dragic, and even Lowry at times.

Yes, Scola is a major defensive liability, but he is actually more of defensive liability when he's playing PF rather than Center because of his positioning in the defensive rotations.

Scola's is not the damn problem, it's Dalembert and the fact he does nothing but stand there and get a block or two.

We didn't have a problem Scola last year, because we had a damn good center in Chuck hayes, that did what a center was supposed to do despite being undersized.

Now that we have no one in the middle, everyone is trying to compensate for our lack of an interior defender and rebounder, and messing up the offensive and defensive flow.

No one seems to take it seriously, but Morey needs to get Chuck back to Houston. We don't Kaman, Gasol, or any of that junk, just a guy who plays hard and fills what this team needs.

Dalembert is our best rebounder, he just needs to wake up, period.
Still disagree with the decision of excluding Thabeet. You have troubles at rebounding, you have your backup center injured, and Thabeet in suit... Also disagree with the Pat-Scola combo before playing Smith in a game like todays.

And lets see what happens with Morris... the team is struggling at the positional offense, Chase is struggling, Lee is too and Parsons as well. Could be the time to give him some minutes, can help you also at the rebounding.

The Rockets are soft everywhere but the PG position. Perimeter defense stinks. Perimeter boxing out obviously stinks. Post play which opens up perimeter offense really stinks.

This team has its glaring weaknesses. Kudos to McHale for figuring out ways to cover up those weaknesses and grind out wins when its possible. Its sad that this team has so much talent on the bench, but those guys just dont play hard enough and havent worked hard enough to get on the court.

You have to work hard and earn your time. Thats probably the biggest issue with this team. The guys with the least amount of talent work the hardest, and those with the most amount of talent dont care and expect to become a superstar overnight.

That's not going to happen, and his lack of a post defense & low IQ is not worth having him out there to just stand there and collect defensive rebounds because he's our tallest player.

I do agree about getting Greg Smith in there just to light a fire under the team, and playing Marcus Morris. I'd be surprised if we don't see both of them sometime in the 2nd quarter in the next game.

His career numbers say that should happen, his career numbers say that he is a VERY solid rebounder. But averages 4 in the last 3 games.

For the MOST part, this team simply has no nuts... No one will man up! No one will box out! It's like our guys are afraid of contact - unless they can flop and draw a foul... When somebody drives the lane against us, our guys part like the red sea... We are guilty of enough ticky tack fouls throughout the course of a game - howabout a couple hard fouls! That's my rant...

It goes to show kevin martin can go for near 40 and kyle can shoot from the parking lot but if you dont protect the paint and rebound you will never be a contender.
