chances of lin beating rose is tiny, unless rose gets injured, a lot of depends on how visible is a team and the team's relative success, if deron stays with nets and rondo stays in boston, both celtics and nets are likely to continue to suck, i wouldn' t be too surprised if lin wins over them, however, in the rare event that lin starts over rose, lin MUST have sustained his amazing production for a long period of time, so that wouldn't be too much a surprise either
It would be many factors, underdog, Asian, religion, good person, New York fan base. If he plays like this the rest of season and start of next season, I see him as easily the top eastern conference guard in all star voting.
He probably won't beat out Rose IMO. If he does good for him. I think you should realize there's alot more pressure, larger magnifying glass playing in New York. It's true Deron plays in the metro area but the Nets aren't the Knicks. It's not apples and apples. And if a player can still excel in that type of environment, more power to him. I'd say he deserved it. So to answer your question playing in NY does play a factor. Playing in NY comes with increased visibility and that likely plays a part in "name recognition" when it comes to ballot voting. It also comes with added pressure and stress that a player has to deal with. A double-edged sword I guess.
If Jeremy would have gotten his chance a little earlier in the season, I would have no problem with him being an all star. He deserves it, but he doesn't deserve to start over Derrick Rose. I'm glad we can all agree on this lol.
I agree. And, likewise, if Rose continues to play at his MVP-candidate level the "rest of season and start of next season" then expect a huge media backlash to Linsanity if fans vote Lin as starter over a Rose. You probably do not want that to happen.
I know. I meant if he would've blown up earlier in the season, he should've been on the team. But with his small sample size, I believe it was a dozen games or so, it would've been tough to add him and drop Rondo or Williams.
If Lin stays the starter with around his current stat lines, it won't be a surprise if he is the leading vote getter. I imagine he'll probably win the voting regardless if you include internet voting...I'm in Iowa and I've seen a good number of people talking and sporting lin jerseys the last few weeks. I think there was an nielsen rating a while back looking at Lin's marketability in the US, he was head of both kobe and lebron. Americans love an underdog story. Lin also happens to be an underdog that is well spoken and very humble. That is marketing gold.
lol depends....is he putting 20 and 10? nobody knows cuz thats next year and it aint happened yet. you are getting all worked up over something that didnt even happen yet. you are convinced its gonna happen because all you see is race. i mean do you even see what you are posting? cmon now
smh...talking about something a year from now like we know rose wont gety seriously injured and not play next year. this is the definition of a strawman being played out
Kevin Love is having a better year than D Rose. But he's on the medicore Wolves teams so his candidacy ends there. I think D Rose is a LONG shot for MVP. Durant, Lebron, and Wade are all much farther ahead. At the end it'll be between Durant and Lebron IMO.
Obviously you missed my last post. I was talking about this year. Who's the one getting worked up here? You skipped my post clarifying I meant this year, then went on to double post about it.
Did I say no votes? Surely SOMEBODY will vote for him. Probably from Chicago. So what, it doesn't mean anything anyway. I said he's not having an MVP caliber season. Two completely different things. There's only a couple guys who realistically have a chance at getting MVP this year.
The MVP will most likely be Lebron on Durant. I'm sure others will get some votes, but those 2 have separated themselves from the pack so far. There's still another half of the season left though. Maybe Jeremy Lin will win MVP and MIP
