My high schools' band director left his nice looking wife and baby for one of his students. This was back in the late 90's. And the dude looks just like Mr. Holland from that Opus movie. I think he got fired for it, even though it was when she was 19 and out of high school by the time it became known. I think she came back and they got caught hooking up on a band trip or something. The kicker? He ended up leaving his 19 yr old girlfriend and marrying her best friend. And this was pretty gross because he was their band director since the 6th grade.
The legal age should be changed to 20. 18 is wayyyy to young. If you are 10 years older than the girl or boy and they are 18 it should be illegal period.
I understand the gross and creepiness of this story, but at some point you have to lawfully recognize people as adults.
Why? Just because you happen to be uncomfortable with the idea for some reason why would you want to prohibit other adults from finding happiness in a way that suits them? I don't get this reaction, at all. Leave aside for the moment that there are many societies where a 20 year age gap is not an issue. The reaction of 'I don't like it and therefore I wish to make it illegal for everyone' with respect to any social issue is illogical and wrong-headed.
because this kid, it's a fact, has nothing in common at all with this man. he is ruining her life, I just hope that this idiot doesn't have a kid with this girl. she needs to be thinking about college and making something of herself, not being the object of an old man's fantasy. Really the legal age should be 21, but with a provision that at 18 to 20 you can be with a person that is no more than 5 years older than you are.
This is what I mean. You somehow know better than she does how she should live her life, so much so, in fact, that you propose legislation affecting all adult citizens aged 18-20 in order that the lifestyle options available to these adults might be constricted better to correspond to your own opinions. I'm not telling you that I am predicting eternal bliss from the relationship in question but your reaction to it is lunacy.
Whoever you are, you should post that on your normal account. You are correct, btw. People overreacting and wanting more laws.
kids need protection when it comes to this, paint it how you want. she is a kid and she is being taken advantage of. legislation in this case is a good thing. i'm against certain legislation: such as roe v wade. I don't think you should tell a woman what she can do to herself. but this is ridiculous. I take it that you don't have kids or are a kid yourself. legislation from a predator is warranted.
Legislation from predators is already there. You're proposing legislation against two adults. If you can prove he initiated this while she was a minor then the existing legislation is sufficient. You don't need new legislation
so you'd let your daughter live with a 41 year old man? I highly doubt this. Or else your a kid yourself.
I agree to a point. I'm 22 and I'm a tutor at my school. From my experience even with just a 4 year age gap the girls that come in still seem very young. They have no business being with guys 10 years older than them.
I wouldn't, but I wouldn't care if someone elses daughter lived with one so long as it wasn't a crime. Your daughter, your problem. Someone elses daughter? Who cares man. Its legal. Morality/personal beliefs vs. the law. I wouldn't want my mom diddling dudes at a nursing home but ****, its legal.
How I conduct myself or how I try to handle my family is my business. Not yours. To answer your question, of course not. But it's not your business how my adult daughter lives her life.
