Danny Granger was one of the names he threw out there in the interview. If so, then this is how i somewhat see it happening...

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6rvk4qg

Rockets acquire: Pau Gasol & Danny Granger

Lakers acquire: Luis Scola & Kyle Lowry (hoping they would take Dragic instead)

Pacers acquire: Kevin Martin, Samuel Dalembert & Chase Budinger

    Reason for Trade:

For the Rockets: Granger has been linked to us since last season and i see his acquisition being the patented Morey surprise trade. Pau Gasol is Houston bound by hook or by crook, Morey just loves him.

For the Lakers: Pretty much a no brainer if they get a all star caliber point guard in Kyle Lowry and a legit 4 to replace Pau in Scola.

For the Pacers: They get deeper with 3 starter caliber players. K-Mart will give them a true shooting guard and move George to his natural small forward position. They also get a solid back up for Hibbert in Sammy D and a much needed Small forward coming off the bench with Budinger.

that podcast was as useless as the random trade thread...

they are in the dark just as much as we are.

my prediction is that we will be on the other end of the battier type trade from last year in that we will acquire a rental-player that will help us with our playoff hopes instead of trying to get more assets.

I've always loved Danny Granger's game. He could shine in a better system.

However, I still don't think the Rockets should trade Kyle Lowry under any circumstance unless it's for Dwight or Deron Williams. That's it.

I agree with a minor trade. However, I HOPE that we end up on the better side. I HOPE Morey doesn't trade a good player, like Courtney, for something worthless, like Thabeet.

I still can't get over that one. Forget the salary dump and Shane's expiring. We almost made the playoffs last year, and it will never make sense to me why Morey did that. (Yes, I know the salary implications, but still, terrible, terrible move. Don't tell me that Thabeet has potential. If he does, it's only been shown in the D-league. Jordan Hill has more potential at this point.)

    /Rant.

    Gotta love our Rockets

Friedman mentioned Al Jefferson, he makes some sense because (1) he is talented (though flawed), (2) he's McHale's adopted son, (3) his contract runs out after next season. So, if you don't think that the Rockets have a great shot at just using the cap room to land a proven superstar star (or two) in 2012 free agency, it makes sense to get someone like him, a talented player who still has some potential to become an elitel level player again, and if he does'nt work out, you get cap room the next season. It's what Memphis did with Zach Randolph.

One more thing: My guess is Jefferson won't cost much to trade for, especially if the Jazz struggles between now and March 15.

Anything is possible especially since this has to be Morey's year to finally make a major move. Not expecting great things myself. Instead, i'm just hoping for the best.. as always. Most of us Rocket fans are used to heartbreaks and mediocrity for more than a decade now so i don't think anything could really disappoint us. Hehe

Well all I really want is an improved team come deadline. People talk about how DM keeps spinning the wheels of mediocrity but the thing is if you keep improving year after year you're gonna have a contender sooner or later. That seems a more logical way to go then gutting the team and hoping against hope you land a superstar in the draft.

Good point. I like Al, but the injuries scare me. That sounds funny, coming from fans who've been through the Tmac/Yao era of injuries.

I'd prefer Kaman at this point. He seems like a bargain and is the tough sort of big that we need, at least short term.

I doubt McHale has any input on personel whatsoever.

7 million dollar expiring contract for a player who was going to bolt. You also left out the 1st round draft pick we acquired from them in the deal. Just my opinion, but I don't think that was a bad deal for us at all.

Thats actually one of the best trade scenarios I have ever seen around here and most sensible.

I'd do any of those scenarios but keep Lowry at all costs. He is the reason why our defense has been solid.

All I see is that we give up our entire starting lineup for Pau Gasol and ...Danny Granger?

Also, that trade doesn't involve L.A. and Indiana, so it might as well just be two separate trades..

I do not like that trade at all, whatsoever.

Well, you're not going to get very good (although not elite) players like Gasol or Granger for players we looking to dump. Kyle's our best player and best trade asset, so it's gonna take giving him up to get a true upgrade. As much as I love Lowry, i'd be willing to give him and Martin up for Granger & Gasol.
