I hope you don't take this personally, but you -seem- to be wound a bit tight. Spitting in food, calling people about tips not received. I don't know, man. Last time you weren't sure you were insulted, but ready to be. This time, you're not sure what happened, the delivery was late, but you're ready to call a good customer about the tip not received, for whatever reason.

Maybe you need a vacation. Life is too good to be sweating the small stuff and letting ensuing analysis burden you, potentially to the point of endangering what sounds like a good customer base.

This is the most likely explanation.

You will NOT be snitching if you just call and explain what happened, without adding your assumptions about what you think happened. If it is a misunderstanding, it is on your part and not theirs.
    • do not assume anything
    • leave your personal feelings out of it
    • remind her that she's your good customer and you're pleased to do service for her
    • Let her know what happened, and just take it matter-of-factly
Wait until she tells you "Oh, he didn't give you a tip?" or "I'm glad you got the tip." For you to mention it. She is not under any obligation to give you a tip, or to tip you ALL the time.

As far as you know, you told the guy an amount, and he gave you an amount. Is she always the one that pays? You can start by saying that, and asking probably if everything is OK... then if the money issue arises, you can politely ask, without getting too personal with her.

Don't make this a bigger deal than it is. It would NOT be snitching if you just talk to her and let her know what happened. DO NOT ASSUME the dude pocketed the money. I agree with Señor DaveLoco. Avoid making it "awkward" for $5 by just talking.

You told him it was $39.65 and he gave you $40. He paid the bill. What is it that you're upset about?

I was at the bank and they had some trivia thing.

Says TIP originally meant "To Insure Promptness"

Could it be that because the order got there late that she deducted the tip?
Doesn't seem like it tho cause she maybe forgot to mention the 45 was apart of the tip.
If its a recurring thing then i would say something, but if its a one time thing then forget about it.

^ Good points. Oh, yeah... I forgot to say up there: you should call just to apologize for being late and... no, nothing... forget it.

maybe your being a female gives you a better insight to the good customer in question, as a man i would never bring something like this up over a 1st time $5 consequence...no way for it not to seem awkward & both parties losing face.

Hotbolla: train the driver on an appropriate & polite riposte should this happen again.

hotballa this tells me you're a coward that don't dare to speak/stand up for yourself.

If that was me, I would have been like "yo homes, its 39 dollar but 45 with tip."

It's not even his money so why should he care, and you want to get butt hurt about 5 bucks?

5 bucks? we talking about 5 bucks? not not not 500 bucks, 5 bucks..

Hotbolla is not that routes regular driver....he was filling in.

Gender affects how a lot of us choose to handle certain situations.
