I'm not that high on Rondo like many people are. Not saying I wouldn't do that deal, but I would have to think long and hard. Here's my thinking.... Rondo can't shoot, so you would need to have some shooters around him. You have gotten rid of KMart so now your shooter is gone (and he hasn't been that consistent, but is better than anyone else we have). Putting Rondo in a lineup of Parsons, Lee, and Dale may be an offensive disaster. Your defense will be great, but we may average 70ppg. Look at Boston they can barely score 80 points sometimes, and that is with Pierce, Allen and KG (I know they are old but their scoring ability is better than any of our players, once you trade Martin Lowry and Scola).
Three way trade with Lakers and Thunder. Lakers do it to add depth while gaining Dragic to run the point and Scola replaces Gasol in the line-up. Also saves them money in the future. Thunder get a defensive SG in Lee and depth up front behind Ibaka in Patterson and don't run the risk of loosing Harden for nothing. Also send MIN 2nd rd pick '12. Houston obviously does it to get an all-star caliber players in Gasol and Harden. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7ly8vwu Then follow up with a two-way trade with the Celtics J. O'Neal for Thabeet and Williams http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8ynnnaa Lowry, Flynn, Ivey Harden, Budinger Parsons, Morris Gasol, Hill, Smith Dalembert, O'Neal With Flynn, Ivey, Hill, Smith, O'Neal all free agents gives us room to maneuver in the off-season and free's up playing time for Motiejunas to learn from Gasol next year. With the NY 1st that also adds to the building process.
So in this scenario, Morey has Kupchak and Presti tied up in a dark room and has shot each of them in the knees with a 9mm already, right?
So the trade machine still doesn't work when you have 10 or more players in a trade scenario, so I broke it down into 2 trades. Spoiler Cleveland loses their underrated backup PG Ramon Sessions and Jamison's expiring contract, but they get a nice addition and Ohio native, Kevin Martin. They also get some expiring contracts in return and another PG who could play sparingly if needed. New Orleans gets Jamison, who is expiring but could start for them while Landry is out, and Jordan Hill. They were rumored to want Jordan Hill in the trade offer for Kaman earlier this season. The next trade is either Sessions, Scola, and Bud to the Lakers for Gasol, or Lowry and Scola for Gasol. The Rockets get thin at the SG position, but they get an extreme upgrade in their frontcourt. New lineup is: Lowry/Dragic/Flynn or Dragic/Sessions/Flynn depending on the trade Lee/Dragic? Parsons/Bud (depending on if he's traded)/Morris Gasol/Patterson Kaman/Dalembert/Smith
Here's another one. The Timberwolves have been in the mix for Pau Gasol, as well as the Rockets, and possibly the Bulls. Even though I am a Pau Gasol fan, I understand that his contract could really sting in the future. In this scenario, we help the Timberwolves land Pau Gasol and acquire Pekovic instead. Minnesota gets their guy as well as a legit SF who Rick Adelman might consider playing at the 2 guard spot instead of Ridnour. They lose 2 centers for 1 PF/C so I added Jordan Hill to give them some depth. The Lakers get Scola, a new starting PG, and some depth at SF and C, which would be their biggest need after acquiring a PG. The Rockets lose Scola and Dragic, but gain a guy that has the potential to become a franchise Center. Pekovic is 26 years old, has a very favorable contract right now, and has shown how dominant he can be this year. I tried to add Kevin Martin to the Timberwolves since they don't have a SG, but it's very hard to make their salaries match with him being involved. New Lineup: Lowry/Flynn Martin/Lee/T-Will Parsons/Beasley/Morris Patterson/Morris/Pekovic Pekovic/Dalembert/Smith/Thabeet With this scenario you could still trade for Kaman and maybe even package a combination of Lowry, Martin, and Dalembert for a star.
3 way with Orlando and bucks Yes bogut is out 10 weeks but to pay the price for a big sitting is gonna hurt a small market like Milwaukee Houston. Out. Lowry dalembert twill chase thabeet hill Kevin Martin in. Dwight. S jax. Jameer Orlando. Out. Dwight. Turk jameer In. Jennings. Twill, hill, bogut, Houstons 1st Bucks out bogut Jackson Jennings In. Lowry, Martin, thabeet, chase Leaves us with Jameer /dragic/Flynn Lee/captain jack Turk/ parsons Scola/Patterson/morris Dwight Or a slight variation depending on how salaries match. On my phone so forgive me if salaries are way off
I find it hard to believe the Lakers would give up Pau for such a crappy haul. Try something like this--still a stretch, but more realistic & better for us, as well:
Lakers don't want Dragic and they don't care about Martin as they already have the game's best 2 guard. They want Lowry if Gasol is the player sought for trade.
Scola, Parsons, and Barea is better than Scola, Dragic, Webster, and Milicic? On another note, I also did a 3 team trade where Rondo, Thabeet, Jordan Hill, and T-Will go to N.O., Kaman goes to Houston, and Eric Gordon and Landry go to Boston. Don't think it makes much sense for Boston though. I wonder what Rondo's value is around the League?
Hell yes! Webster and Milicic shouldn't even be rotation players on a contender, they're basically just salary filler, and in Milicic's case, wasted cap space. Barea is better than Dragic, and Parsons is a good glue guy on a great contract.
The Lakers want a star power point guard (Rondo or Lowry) if Gasol is going to be traded this year. They made that clear when they pushed all their chips into the pot for Chris Paul as I'm sure you know. If Gasol can't bring them Rondo or Lowry then they will revert to Plan "B", keep Gasol and trade draft picks and use their TPE from the Odom deal to acquire mid level PG (Sessions, Calderon, Felton etc).
That's what they've said, it might be true, it might not be. When it comes down to the wire at the deadline they might get desperate enough for depth to trade Gasol for a package of solid roleplayers. Just depends on what offers are out there. I smell a desire to make a trade coming off their FO and if they can't get a star they'll take what they can get. Gasol is their only tradeable asset basically so it'll have to be him going out.
So the #1 seeded Thunder give up a leading candidate for 6th man of the year and their 3rd offensive option (who is huge for a team structure in the way they are) in Harden and their backup PG for a downgrade in Courtney Lee and Patrick Patterson? Why exactly do the Thunder make this deal? What do
I would hope Jennings and an immobilized bogut could keep them in playoff contention. They are pretty good going towards the post season. If only bogut was healthy I would have been cool for the rox getting him. What would nj want for deron? I'm guessing Lowry as a must and scola and 09ers. Def not twill I'm guessing. With marshon being a stud they don't need Kevin but maybe parson or a chandler if we have to directly deal with them.
Gasol and Redick to Houston Bynum and Martin to Orlando Howard, Patterson, Budinger, Flynn, and Thabeet to LA PG: Lowry/Dragic SG: Lee/Redick SF: Parsons/Morris/Williams PF: Gasol/Scola C: Dalembert/Hill/Smith You can replace Hill with Motiejunas next year.
i like how people still say we should get howard when we know he ain't coming here and howard is not going to LA because the Magic turned down the trade
