Andrew Breitbart dies of 'natural causes,' website reports

    DEVELOPING ...

Conservative media mogul Andrew Breitbart has died, according to his website Big Government.

The site, which he founded, reported that Breitbart, 43, died "unexpectedly from natural causes" in Los Angeles shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

"We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior," the article on the site said.

I have never heard of him, but then I don't watch a lot of political news.

Father of 4, only 43... sad.

    RIP

    RIP

I'm sure he'll be missed by his family. I'll try not to speak ill of the deceased.

RIP. He was a hell of a muckraker. He didn't always vet his stories enought, but he had more balls than the rest of the media executives combined.

Good luck with that. Boring idea is boring.

Let's do some debating and discussing shall we? I'll try to keep politics out of it.

Let me try add to those by anonymously saying that I hope the magical ghost of this stranger who I've never met and (in most cases) barely paid attention to finds some sort of rejuvenation in a magic kingdom in the sky (or alternately and equally absurd, agony in some subterranean lair)

I get it - I'm sure i've done it myself on this board, it's ritual, and ritual sometimes matters (in real life) but does ritual really matter on the internet in this instance for "grieving"?

Or is the ritual being exercised by people in instances like thiese as some sort of talisman to ward off bad luck (aka throwing salt over your shoulder , knock on wood, etc)

if so can we coome up with an alternate phrasing that's less ridiculous? like "Knock on Wood/ KOW" There are many who find magical wood gnomes more believable I bet...

Natural causes at 43, I just don't buy it. Andrew Brietbart gives a fiery speech at CPAC, and announces to the world that he has damaging video footage of Obama during his college years...and he vows to release it before the election of 2012.
And now he has suddenly "passed away"?
If he died of a heart attack, say so, why UNEXPECTEDLY DIES FROM NATURAL CAUSEs?

Does this not seem suspicious to anyone else?

RIP Andrew, we lost an important soldier today, the rest of us conservatives have to pick up the pace.

Oh please. He had evidence of that just like wingnuts have all that evidence about Obama's birth in Africa.

I know we're supposed to be merciful at times like this but I'm having a hard time with this guy and some of the comments add to that difficulty.

He didn't always vet his stories enough? He intentionally made stuff up and intentionally made mountains out of molehills. He did this purely to further his political views and ingratiate himself to those with power. If he's a muckraker, then that term has lost the original meaning. He was a propagandist. He slandered people with no remorse and often those people were ones who did not have the capacity to fight back. He was ultimately a bully of the worst sort.

Look, I recognize he was a flawed human, as we all are. I recognize he has a family and people who loved him. My condolences go out to them and I hope he truly rests in peace.

Even given that though, let's be honest about his life and the influence he had on the coarsening of our political discourse and the further erosion of trust in our society.

This guy deserves peace, but he does not deserve a hagiography.

(Is O'Keefe now on suicide watch?)

Sad that such a good citizen is dead when so many vile people, some of whom can be found here, are still alive.

There is no solution. This place is rotten and corrupt from the top down. So be it.

We know that Breitbart has been wrong about plenty such as the Acorn fiasco. However it's still sad that he died while he had a family that loved him and they are suffering.

I suggest that if people want to talk about his politics, either positively or negatively that they start a different thread.
