Tomorrow, March 1, 2012, is the first day on which free agents signed at the beginning of the season, such as Samuel Dalembert and a large number of others in the league, become eligible to be traded.

This is NOT to say that Dalembert is likely to be traded. The importance is that he and many others can now be moved either as main pieces to a trade, as "throw in" contracts to make the salary balance work under the trade rules, or as undesirable salaries that the team is trying to dump even after less than 1 season on the job. Not sure anything will happen right when the restriction comes off-- Dwight Howard's situation might hold up stuff for everybody-- but it is likely that a bunch of the deals that teams have discussed up to this point cannot happen until tomorrow. So, Sammy D Assetization Day definitely bears watching.

So chuckwagon can be traded as of tomorrow?
If so, relieve sacramento from chuck hayes' contract by sending a future star in twill +hasheem to them.

Love Chuck but that would severely limit our flexibility going into this offseason.

Does Hallmark have a card for HSDA Day? My wife gets pissed if I forget to do something special for her on that day.

all the players that I would love to have on this team like batum and eric gordon are all restricted free agents. They will probably just use morey to get their offer. Hibbert would be scared to death signing with us, thinking he would get sent to the d league after a bad game.:p

I think the only way that the Rockets trade for Chuck is if they first land that "star player" they want, so that next year's cap room becomes irrelevant.

For example, remember that the Rockets asked Chuck to wait on signing with SAC so that they can first try to complete the Gasol deal (and the Nene signing) and then make a competitive offer to Chuck? My understanding is that, had the deal not been vetoed and Nene is added, the Rockets was going to be near or over the cap with or without Chuck, so they wouldn't have any better way to spend $5 million or so a year than using it on Chuck.

However, when the deal fell through, it became more important for them to preserve the possibility of having cap room in 2012, so that they might use it to acquire a star (by FA or by trade). So, no long-term deal for Chuck, and Sammy D had to accept a largely non-guaranteed 2nd year on his contract.

In the present situation, I think this means that if the Rockets manage to snatch Gasol or another star first, and carrying and extra $5 million on the payroll next season becomes irrelevant in terms of cap flexibility, getting Hayes back would be an option.

However, I wonder if the Kings are ready to give him up. He seems to be a good mentor for Cousins.

My 'ideal trade' based on seeming balance, equity and realism (see: Stern, commish/owner/unassailable emperor) is: Kaman for Scola/Parsons. Whoa - - too much OK, yes. But think in terms of Gasol and earlier Chuckles trades that were quite one sided until seen through the lens of (the ahem, presumed) Nene/ChuckWagon and earlier Willis/Price (who was fitting in beautifully, finally, by that fateful January knee - - otherwise it says here the knee was to the groin of myth making and myth breaking as the Rox were going to remove air from Jordan's sails: Hakeem's myth made, 3rd title, over MJ despite MJ's loss to Magic and MJ's reduced for losing invincibility). So, too much? No - - because then Sammy D's assetization is maxed due to his deaccessation to a team desperate for a fix at the five.

Sam is big and personable, but somewhat dumb.

    He's like a giant teddybert.

Guess I should not have posted this thread, clearly the Rocketd players saw it and decided to tank their trade value ahead of Assetization Day.
