You're talking about a Lamar Odom that is no longer around. Sad Texas Lamar Odom (on the world champs and in the Texas city most like LA, even) is a pathetic shell of what he was in '04-'08

All he is now is a small buyout for next season.

If he's moved, Dallas will be paying someone to take him off their hands for expiring contracts. And Morey's not going to help Dallas sign Dwight and Deron.

As a bench player? Maybe ...

    As a starter? No way!

I assume you meant as a starter, so I vote no!

Exactly, although I explained why a buyout would not be in Dallas' best interest. Cuban is quoted in today's paper that they (Mavs) won't trade him or buy him out so I guess that's it for this thread.

How can anyone be against getting Odom? If you think that Budinger/Parsons is better than Lamar Odom you are dellusional. Is he having an off-year? Yes But is he too old to get back on his high horse? No. Why wouldn't you get a player that addresses the direct need we have on this team. We DO NOT have a legtimate starting SF. Odom has proved he is a championship calliber SF. Besides Lowry, Lee, Martin, Parsons, and Patterson, who wouldn't you trade for him? Scola, Budinger, 09ers, Dragic, etc...are more than tradeable for Odom...Dragic will probably leave for nothing at the end of the season if you don't trade him, and Budinger/Scola for Odom isn't a horrible deal...Odom is 32, but he has championship experience and isn't a bad starting SF...on this team...He will regain his old form soon enough.

OMG, Odom's PER is low! He is garbage! He will never be the same player again! He's checked out! He doesn't wanna play ball anymore! ETC, ETC....

Wow Clutchfans, the ignorance on here never seems to disappoint... I would take Odom for cheap, obviously you don't wanna give up a lot for a guy his age. But still, the guy can play. When given the right opportunity he is a pretty good player given his versatility and rebounding. He definitely would make a nice fit giving us 25 a night off the bench, but we would have to trade Scola first imo.

And for the last time. WHO THE **** GIVES A **** ABOUT PER?!?!?! IT'S A FLAWED BS STATISTIC THAT PEOPLE THINK IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ACTUALLY WATCHING PLAYERS PLAY. It is just another statistical tool to HELP EVALUATE players. Stop using it as an end-all discussion. JEEEEEZZZZZ.....

if he comes cheap then why not? he's an upgrade over what we currently have at sf (pending parsons developing a consistent jump shot that he can rely on) and would be a great option when mchale decides to run small

Odom would love to play here - especially if we got Gasol.
    - He would play hard, just to get back at the Lakers.
    - Houston would get a TV show "Keeping up with Chloe & Lamar- In H-town"

He's a mopey loser that's playing far and away the worst basketball of his career? And apparently has quit on the Mavs and requested a buyout?

    Or you'd be right.
Parsons alone is giving you the same production as Odom, with better shooting (not hard given Lamar's ghastly 36% FG and 26% 3PT), energy, and defensive effort. At 10% of Odom's contract. Lamar only beats our SFs in terms of igniting opponent fast breaks.

Scola, Budinger, Dragic, Dalembert, Hill, Morris, bags of chips, old sneakers.

but I'd totally give up Flynn, Williams, and Thabeet for him.

How'd that work out in Dallas?

They'll be lucky to have enough material for a 4-episode season, given that he'd be gonzo in about 3 months.

    LOL...QFT!
