Duhhh.. Coachbadlee? Like i said, many of us saw that Scola should not have been in the game late. He had already been making mistakes before he went out before. The line-up they had in with Smith and Patterson was doing fine.
Hard to say that Smith/Patterson/Lowry/Lee/Dragic lineup was effective because they played a whole 2 minutes together, and didnt necessarily make a huge run. Read what I was saying before. Scola was a necessary evil in the game in order to win. He did a good job of drawing the defense in deep in the post on the last couple offensive plays. That was one reason why Martin was able to take his man one on one AND SCOLAS MAN DIDNT COME OUT TO SHADE ON MARTIN, leading to Martin drawing the foul. Scola, while not dominant, draws alot of attention for defenses in the post that normally could shade off their man to help contest the Rockets jump shooters. There is no reason why the Rockets should trade for nothing, or Amnesty Scola until they find another way to get some sort of post game out of Patterson, Morris, or another incoming player in trade. Scola is the only thing they got in the post unfortunately, and that is key to their success.
We won the game, that's all that matters. Kevin McHale concocted a plan, and we won ugly. Nothing else matters. Just because some internet fan thinks they know a better gameplan doesn't mean they are right.
Some people have already said it, but Scola needs a competent center playing next to him. You only have to look at who brought the Raptors back in the game: Amir & James Johnson. We have 0 defense in the post, ZERO. We also only have one good passer in the lineup now in Lowry, where we used to have both Lowry & Chuck to run the offense. Chuck was a great at finding cutters from the post, resulting in easier baskets for everyone as well as great spacing for kick-out 3's. We don't need to trade Scola & Martin, as much as we need to get something, anything from the 5. Sammy is good for about 8 minutes and then the paint is wide open for the opponent. You have Chuck still on this team, with the more defensive-minded McHale, and you have the 3rd best team in the West. I love Morey 99% of the time but that trade for Pau resulted in losing our entire post defense.
Apparently, it's what "we" do. Had Scola made the short jumper against the double team at the end of the game, instead of having a turnover while being swarmed by defenders, the OP would have started a thread shouting, "Let's NEVER trade Scola!!" And he would have given someone like me a hard time for suggesting that any player on the Rockets should be moved if it makes this a better team. Any player.
4-1 in the homestand. The Rockets as a team is one of the best considering they had no All-Stars this year or any year and no HOFmers on their roster. We have a lot of good and above average players which is good enough to win a lot of games. Importantly, if Lowry keeps playing like this, I think DHow might want to play here, or any big stud except DWill. I hope we do not trade Lowry because he blew up here.
mchale likes scola because he works hard and is always the first on the floor with a loose ball. mchales favorites are not based off production but effort
I was trying to use a humorous movie quote to point out the fact that the term "knee jerk" has nothing to do with how "straight and direct to the point" a thread is, rather than be mean-spirited and call you a dumbass. I apologize. Dumbass.
trade scola n martin n pick for beasley and pekovic. beasley or williams. they are killn rite now against lob city.
Just keep winning and drive up that already raised value of all these guys playing on a playoff team. After that? Scola is the only guy who should probably definitely go. Then from there you work in a role player and young guy to sweeten the deal for an upgrade. No need to throw in your starters like Lowry and Martin just to get one guy unless he is a star.
That matter was determined by your misuse of the term knee jerk. Whether you accept my insincere apology or not is irrelevant.
He was in the game late for we could actually have a post presence which leads to open shots. Raptors were locked in on D though.
Yeh... Because coaches should through there vets under the bus and lose faith in a guy who is still better then everyone on our roster. Great coach you would be.
