It will be interesting to see after Santorum's inevitable flameout whether the GOP will attempt one last ditch effort to feign interest in another candidate (presumably the advocate of massive state government, Ron Paul) in order to push what little more crazy juice they can into Romney.

Ugh I've been at my grandma's the past few days because my grandfather recently passed, RIP, and half of my family members are radical christians who support Santorum. It's gross. I think Christianity is great because it gives people strong values to live by, but the Bible can't be put before the Constitution.

Anyways I accidently said I could care less about Christian Mythology, and now half my family has informed me I'm going to hell. Anyways it's all good if I do, because Santorum's evil ass will be there with me.

You should work to make sure he's the nominee.

Drezner has a very good commentary on this speech: Santorum on manufacturing: what an idiot

Thanks, that was a great commentary piece. Santorum's speech fails on even more levels.

Romney's fake sign wave. The campaign makes signs and passes them out at his rallies to look good for the cameras. I like how they be sure to collect them all up at the end of the event.

If I go to a rally to support someone, does me holding a sign mean I support him X 2? I mean aren't I already there supporting him? I mean, aren't you failing by putting that video up?

    poor romney

I just feel bad for Romney. He's probably a moderate guy on most social issues, but he has to play act that he is not. He's also absurdly wealthy, but he has to try his best to act like some idealized Joe Shmo who works with his hands and takes the family out to Chili's as a treat. Finally he obviously wants to reduce taxes on the very wealthy because it benefits his wealthy friends and his own family, but he has to pretend like it will benefit everyone.

He is truly a remarkable man to keep up the facade so thoroughly and for so long. He's doing a pretty good job at it, but he slips up every now and speaks candidly. So maybe, if he could at least let down the facade in one of those areas, the burden would lift from his shoulders and he would be down to no-slip ups.

I'm going to be the bigger man and leave Chili's out of this conversation.

To me its more about the way their campaign works. It's Ron Paul's fault for having enthusiastic supporters that makes the other look lethargic and depressing.

Well put it must be exhausting. I could just picture his people talking to him when he jokingly bet Perry thousands of dollars on that debate.

Intelligent GOP members must be realizing right about now that none of these candidates can defeat Obama this year, especially given the economic recovery we've been seeing lately. They really should begin diverting their funding to the Senate races instead; the presidency, at this point, is really a lost cause.

To believe otherwise is nothing but wishful thinking.

It's not on a good trajectory for them, BUT remember how quickly the economy changed in Fall 2008. Who knows where we'll be in October of this year.

Mitt wins AZ. I wonder if there will be a recount?
