Dragic would have a good shot at starting on the Hornets, Lakers. If Nash retires or gets traded to a contender for prospects, then they might want him back. If Kidd retires, then Dallas would be a possibility. If Deron bolts, then NJ could make a run (though Farmar would probably get that job). He could have a shot in Atlanta, Orlando, Sacramento. I think $3.5M-$5M is fair, and he would be better off going to any of the above teams if the Rockets were to offer similar to that.
I thought last year that Wallace and Iggy were both great possible additions to our team. Wallace with his defense, toughness, slashing, and rebounding and Iggy with pretty much the same skills as wallace with more playmaking. I think it was interesting that Jonathan mentioned Wallace because Portland is in pretty much the same situation that we were in with Battier. They have a young player with potential in Batum who they would prefer to keep over the aging Wallace. Crash has a player option for next year. I've seen some positive feedback over a potential trade with PDX. Wallace for Dragic + Chase + Thabeet We obviously get the best player that would cement our chances in the playoffs. Wallace adds toughness and would make probably propel us to fight for homecourt in the 2nd half of the season. PDX gets a sorely needed PG that will push Felton for the starting job and a decent backup wing in Chase who is locked up for cheap for another couple years. Also, it opens up playing time for Batum whom they want to feature more and keep long term. Dally/Hill/Smith Scola/Patterson Wallace/Parsons/Morris Martin/Lee Lowry/Twil/Flynn
It would be amazing to get wallace on this team. Could probably still nab someone like Kaman after this trade.
Depends on how much Adelman wants Martin, and whether Kahn listens to him. I can see a Martin-for-Pekovic swap happening because Minny has so much depth at the 4 and 5 spots. They have their #2 overall pick PF Williams barely playing and a solid young big in Anthony Randolph almost not playing at all.
I haven't followed Pekovic much outside of his dismantling of the Rockets, so is he decent? If he plays like he does against us, Martin for him may be a no-brainer.
He's been playing at an all-star level since he entered Minny's starting lineup. He's ridiculously efficient, has a great touch, and is a very good rebounder. His defense is only average though. It's still a small sample size so there is some uncertainty about whether he can sustain his performance. That's the only reason he could possibly be had for a player like Martin (and even then, who knows whether they'd give him up).
Good to read Feigen's comments. Don't know if he's right or wrong in what he writes, but he does give us a glimpse inside the organization, however small. I didn't know we were after Wallace last year, but it makes sense. Martin and Scola are so bad defensively that acquiring one of the league's better defenders (well, he isn't the Wallace of a couple years ago, but still...) makes sense. I wish we could pry loose Batum. Don't know what salary demand he turned down. Maybe they wanted to wait to see if they could trade Wallace's big salary (and starting job), or leave money free for players they're not gonna get, a la the Rockets. Dragic, bye-bye? As far as trading Martin for Pekovic, we don't want to make Minnesota ultimately better than us. Martin might not be "unhappy" here but he'd be happy enough playing for Adelman. And the salaries would have to match, and a third team involved.
I think it would be seen as one of those mutually beneficial deals if that happened. Minnesota has starting caliber big men riding the bench, and we have starting caliber wings (well, at least Lee, and plenty of bench guys) doing the same.
The most interesting comments I haven't seen anyone mention: Which is mostly likely to happen? Dwight Howard to the Lakers for Bynum or Pau Gasol to Houston in exchange for Scola and Martin? 1:06 Jonathan Feigen: Tough one since I don't think either is likely to happen. Dwight does not seem interested in being Kobe's Robin. The Rockets and Lakers have not had a single discussion about Pau since mid December. Remember, when they were willing to give up Scola, Martin and Dragic for Pau they were also planning on adding Nene. That's not possible now. Also, the Lakers are looking for a potential star, not a better backup for Kobe. What does the rockets cap space look like this summer? Who is available this summer?(star player) Jonathan Feigen: The Rockets have max-contract cap room and more if they want it. Dwight Howard and Deron Williams are the top free agents. Roy Hibbert is the name to watch.
