    That's crazy to me.

You're not going to convince me that a 6 foot point guard who has turned in a couple good seasons and a big man who is making a splash in his sophomore season is equal in value to 2 of the top 5 big men in the league.

There are many formidable point guards in the NBA. There are very few Formidable Centers. You're talking about trading two of them, you just don't do it.

Like I said, if the Lakers won't even trade Gasol and Bynum for Howard, there's no way they trade them both for anything less.

Gonna have to agree with Ricky here Oremlk. A dominant Big Man will always be >> over a Dominant PG even despite age and contract.

That being said I do not think that Morey moves Lowry with Gasol coming back unless there are other moves being made. If you aquire Gasol but loose your all-star calliber PG, then your not much closer to contending, and your window of opportunity is much shorter.

Again Morey always says that his goal is to make this team a contender "As Soon As Possible." If Gasol is coming in, either Lowry is staying, or someone like Deron Williams is coming in as well.

I dont know how he can aquire both players until the Dwight Howard saga has concluded, but I would assume thats the scenario Morey is thinking best case scenario for the Rockets. If they can somehow involve a third team to send a PG to the Lakers then I think a deal can be made to keep Lowry in Houston. That seems much more likely here. Again, we have to just sit and see what happens with Dwight first and foremost.

    Yes.

For example, if Morey knows---KNOWS---that Llull wants to/can get out of his contract in Europe and pay him what he wants and enough to make the buyout less painful.

Now, if that would be next season, with us staying afloat with Dragic and Flynn this season, so be it.

Although I'd prefer to find a 3rd team (Boston? Rondo?) in this. I don't want to see Lowry in L.A. if I can help it.

I dont even think Llull coming over would be enough to consider the Rockets contending next year with a Llull/Gasol duo. Any deal moving Lowry MUST include another high quality asset coming back other than Gasol. A third team almost certainly has to involved then.

I do think that the Bill Simmons trade idea can make sense for all three teams in principle, but there are some challenges on Boston's end with dealing with Martin and Allen being on the same team unless they can trade Allen at the deadline as well.

Plus I dont think Boston gives up Rondo just for Martin, I think its gonna take more than that from Houston's end. Might have to throw in a couple good young players like Patterson or Morris to get the deal done.

But a deal like this makes sense-

    Houston Out- Martin/Scola/Dragic/Thabeet

    Houston In- Gasol/Dooling

    LA Out- Gasol/possible filler

LA In - Rondo/ Scola(Trade Expection from Odom Trade)

    Boston Out- Rondo/Dooling

    Boston In- Martin/Dragic/Thabeet

(separate deal to move Ray Allen)

-Rockets Roster looks like this the rest of the season-

    Dalembert/Smith
    Gasol/ Patterson/Adrien(re-signed)
    Parsons/Morris/Blakely(re-signed)
    Lee/ Budinger/TWill
    Lowry/Dooling/Flynn

That is pretty thoughtful and all but I really don't think I would like that. As good as a scorer as Monte is, he really isn't a "winner". He can put up great numbers on a bad team because he gets 25+ shots. If you have Gasol, Ellis and Dragic on the floor that will be 3 guys that need 10-15 shots a peice to be effective. Dragic is a good PG but he looks to score first.

I would do Lowry/Scola for Gasol. As much as I hate seeing two fan favorites going to the Lakers, I do not think Lowry will be as good in LA as he could be here. Kobe demands the ball all the time and Bynum will need his touches. We really have nobody that demands the ball. Martin is our best scorer but cannot create his own shot and nobody else on our team really can do that consistently.

Then trade Dragic, Martin and the 09ers and maybe Bud for Dwill and a filler (if he agrees to sign here.)

If something like that cannot get done then I say screw all the Gasol talk and try to get Howard here first and then go after Dwill. Dwill would likely want out of there (if he doesn't already) to play with a dominate big guy and a good supporting cast. We could offer Orlando good young talent and expiring contracts. We would probably have to take on Hedo or someone but it would be worth it.

Too add on to the above, It is just hard to say. I think Lowry will be really good next year and the year after. He is young and his style of play is amazing. I just can't see bringing in a dinosaur that is heading towards decline with an atrocious contract and giving away a Bulldog of a point guard with a whole lot of potential unless you can get Dwill and Howard combo here.

Hey, I just throw crap at the wall to see what sticks. Some of them are pretty f***ing r****ded, no doubt. Fortunately Morey has a way of making other GMs look r****ded so maybe one will come true one of these days

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate well thought out, complicated trades. ESPECIALLY because those are the ones I have the least patience and time to formulate. That said:

You certainly provided your reasoning, but I think it would nonetheless be a stretch for your proposals to be considered realistic. The likelihood of any of them happening would be impressive, but to trade 8 current players in three separate trades, each of which require some convincing as to why certain teams would do it, seems a stretch.

I like to come in here to see why certain trades I might not have thought of could make sense. How to get certain players here. Players that might fit with the team/scheme that I hadn't considered, and how to acquire.

Your scenario just seems like trading, for trading, with very little chance any of the proposed trades occur, and no way of telling at all how the squad is really better off at the end of the day, all things considered.

I must be the only one who thinks trading Pau for Lowry is Crazy. Seems like everyone wants us to trade a young PG for a 31 year PF/C??( Who is a Lamar Odem waiting to happen) I pray Morey fools the hell out of us all and does somthing Amazing!!!!!!

Nobody wants that, the only reason people would do that trade is if we got back another allstart type pg in another trade as well.

The only way to make Lowry for Gasol even remotely realistic is to make it complicated, I found. Otherwise, there is no way Morey would do it.
