Houston is pretty bad regardless of where you live. Houston is a hood. Best places to live are not in the city itself, but in the suburbs. I hated houston and that's why i moved. I live in memphis and feel it is a far safer town than houston which is pretty ironic since everybody things memphis is bad.
Piney Point, River Oaks, Royal Oaks, Memorial, Bellaire, West University, etc..plenty of safe places to live in the city, son. Being able to afford it is the real question.
There's an apartment I was thinking about living in that's about a half mile out of the Greater Greenspoint area. I know it's only half a mile out but it's in the 77090 zip code - trails of dominion park. Would that area be safer or you think it's too close?
How long is your lease? 12 months? I would echo what others have said here. That's not a good place to be. I would find out all you can about getting out of that lease and if the lease isn't all that long and/or you have the financial means to do so, I would look into getting another place and just eating the cost of breaking your lease.
I work in the same area, if i were you just understand police are around during the day but at night forget it you are on your own. If you want to feel safe get a gun license and a gun and dont go anywhere without it.
Well, six months also isn't all that long. It might not be the best six months of your life, but if you only have to stay six months, I'm sure you can make it work. Just be careful, do your best not to go out after dark and stay in when you can just in general.
That's what I've been thinking. Me and my girlfriend have been talking and decided that maybe we'll just stay there. I told her to never leave the complex during the daytime and not to go outside at night. It'll be a rough 6 months.
Also this may sound a little ignorant...so I apologize in advance but is there any chance that some guys will note where I live and break in just because I'm white? I mean the area is 100% black. Should I be concerned about hate crimes or is that kind of stuff reserved for only the REALLY bad places?
I prefer to target white people or the elderly. Sure, i'm an ass kicking machine, but I have to put in a bit of work in it though.
