With Howard going to LA that also sets New Jersey in a situation where they need to trade D-Will immediately. We could jump on that and snag him for Lowry and expirings, I bet. Assuming he would sign an extension, of course...
That trade would kill us, It makes minny 10x better, makes L.A 10x better and downgrades us. Pekovic is nice, but is B-easy really gonna makeup for martins scoring consistently? and it would push bud to the 2 guard which isn't good. It would give us a lot, of cap space at the end of the season though, but who are we gonna sign?? theres not really any game changer thats gonna put us in playoff contention thats gonna sign here.
LOL. I don't think that statement would ever stop a serious trade from going through. Morey: "Wait, call Otis and tell him hell to the no! We don't want Dwight if we have to give up Chase Andrew Budinger!"
But seriously if that trade or something similar ever went through I would be pretty depressed because it would be a clear sign of rebuilding to make LA that much better and improve a rising Minnesota team and only asking them to give up former B level prospects and a kid they just drafted #2 but won't play more than 15 minutes in a game.
I do hate to lose Martin but you gotta give something to get something. I think it would make our frontcourt a lot better. I'm not sure how close "Courtney Lee, starting SG" is to Martin, but I don't think he'd be terrible.
I agree. We got to make a move in some sort of direction. I want to see what Lee can do as a full-pledged starter. If he works out, sign him back, if he doesn't, let him walk. And Turk would most likely be moved to whatever team d12 goes to because of his horrible contract.
Houston trade - Bud, KMart, Scola, Dalembert, Lee, Morris, 2012 NYK pick & 2nd rd pick Houston in - Howard, Pierce, Brooks New Jersey trade - Brooks, Lopez, Okur New Jersey in - Turk, Duhon, Bud Orlando trade - Howard, Turk, Duhon Orlando in - KMart, Okur, Scola, Lopez, NYK pick & 2nd rd pick Boston trade - Pierce Boston in - Dalembert, Lee, Morris Howard / Smith Pat / Hill Pierce / Parsons Brooks / Twill Lowry / Dragic off season Houston trade - Howard New Jersey trade - 1st rd pick + fillers for Houston, renting Howard for this season & having Pierce in the line-up, gives Houston a chance to compete for the west title and for the championship, and an agreement between New Jersey Gm and Morey that, Howard will be traded to them this off season in exchange for their 2012 draft pick( i don't know if this is allowed ), with capspace our team will be able to offer big money to top free agent players, Batum, Mcgee, Hibbert, Asik, Gordon, Ilyasova, R.Lopez etc. for Boston, they get 2 young players, Lee & Morris to replace their old players, plus a veteran center in Dalembert. for New Jersey, their assets are not enough to get Howard, by helping our team this season, we help them get Howard after this season. for Orlando, KMart, Scola & Lopez, still gives them a chance to compete in the playoffs.
I like ur trade freshstart bcuz we don't lose Dwight 4 nothing maybe dats exactly wats morey thinking 2 bcuz if we give dem Dwight and get NJ pick maybe we can get ANTHONY DAVIS!!!! U noe morey is always trying 2 draft or move in da draft 2 get a young superstar
Players who can create for themselves and others is needed... Especially during the playoffs. Pretty much all star players are Iso players
It's clever. I have to hand it to you. But what does Orlando or New Jersey get for handing over to Houston the "privilege" of renting Dwight for the remainder of the year and then swappping back for him with a top 3 lotto pick and in so doing, elevating Houston's stature to the rest of the NBA? If I'm either of them, and assuming the league wouldn't intervene to prevent something like this from occurring, my view would be.... "That's mighty creative and all Mr Morey, but what else in it for me such that I'd be properly motivated to work with you on this venture?" Because the three way trade isn't anything special. So if I'm Orlando or New Jersey, tell me again why I'm going out of my way to be especially helpful to the Houston cause?
If this trade was to happen there is not much to dislike about it... +Let Beasley walk at season's end \ if Rookie Mooris is of any value at all (I see them as the same type of player and Morris is on a rookie contract) +Randolph is a big upgrade to JHill (He is coming of his rookie contract - may have to pay a bit to much to keep him which makes him just "filler" in the trade -KMH will know if he is worth the money (that has value) +Pekovic is one of the jewels of the trade -He, CParsons, AND Donatas Motiejunas on the front line:grin: -the other two will cover up most shortcomings of Motie next season -we still have PPatterson, too +Cap space and a lot of it - jewel +We miss the play-offs this year and keep our pick - jewel +Room next year for Sergio Llull - jewel +Answer to we would be thin at the two: -CLee may sign with us - I see that as a good thing -Rio Grande Valley Vipers: Jermaine Taylor, Kelvin Lewis, Lee Humphrey, and Terrel Harris(I think he is still there) I really enjoy 10 day contracts - it fun to see the players get a chance. (maybe one will be the next Lin - lol)
The advantages to New Jersey and Orlando are fool's gold. You claim you have the assets to help New Jersey eventually land Howard and then you withhold the ones that would have any lasting value and preserve them for yourself. The only assets you're willing to contribute towards obtaining Howard are the same tired assets Houston fans have been touting since the beginning, namely Martin and Scola and in addition you're agreeing to throw in what will no doubt amount to a late first round pick from New York which you clearly don't care much about anymore now the Knicks look like a third seed in the East. What about Kyle Lowry? What about Patrick Patterson? or Parsons or Dragic? Those are the real assets that Houston has that would be desirable. It's one thing to claim to have the assets and something altogether different to put them up on the table I guess. If you're serious about wanting Dwight's services, why don't you find a way to either keep or trade Scola and Martin on your own because they're a lot less interesting and instead put Lowry and Patterson into this deal? Oh by the way, as far as New Jersey getting Howard beginning next season, what if something happens to Howard in the interim? Then what?
You mean not much to dislike about it if you're a Rocket's fan. I'd agree with that statement. If you're a Laker or a Timberwolve fan it's fairly ridiculous. I can’t even understand how with these assets involved, why would Houston even be permitted to have a seat at the table in a trade like this? The Lakers certainly don't need the contribution of Rocket assets as they amount to here at least, in order to land Dwight Howard since the only assets that flow through to Orlando are Laker and Timberwolve assets. Once again what’s apparent in every deal is that the only assets Rocket fans are ever actually willing to part with are the same old tired Martin and Scola, oh this time they include Budinger while the other teams involved are expected to do all the heavy lifting (in this case Bynum, Blake and Gasol from the Lakers and Williams, Petrovic, Barea, Randolph and Beasley form the Timberwolves). Arguably the only resource in the entire trade coming from Houston that even moves the needle is Martin being sent to Minnesota. The Lakers and Orlando could take care of their business without any need for this and Minnesota and Houston could no doubt accomplish the same. By making it a four team deal rewards Houston in a fashion disproportionate to the assets that she is actually contributing.
We grease the wheels for LA and Minny in this trade scenario. LA after trading Gasol is left without a legit starting PF. Minny after trading FOR Gasol has too many starting caliber big men, and no starting caliber shooting guard. So we give Minny Martin in exchange for Pekovic--they can afford to give Pek up since Love + Gasol is an amazing front line--and we give Scola and Budinger to LA so that they can add depth and fill the holes on their roster.
