He's really not hating if you read the article. His only complaint is that Houston will not have a all-star which I think is a valid complaint.

But I think Houston will have a all-star next year. By hook or by crook...

Houston may not be the sexiest city, but it set up to be an event city. You have the hotels, George R Brown, Toyota Center, and even Minute Maid locted in a area that all works well together and in walking distance. This a reason the UFC brought the fan expo to Houston along with 136.

Conclusion: We will have a true All-star by February 2013.

Its actually a bigger deal than just the game. Celebrities, media, former players, and fans converge on the host city for parties and such. Granted its a bigger deal with the hip-hop crowd and black America. I dont know if it was Bill Simmons who coined the term "Black Super Bowl" but he certainly popularized it.

A quarter of a million for the NBA all-star game?

We don't have any all-stars in the competition (talk about embarrassing). Not to mention we won't have any worthy competitors in the other competitions either. (Seriously... Bud in the dunk contest and Parsons in the shooting stars contest? WOW...)

Seriously who are we going to put there next year? Bud with a repeat appearance? Parsons too? We need some all-stars man...

I don't understand how this indoor game isn't rotated to every single NBA city. In many respects I think barnstorming in mid-sized layover cities are one of the historical trademarks of the NBA.

Why should we care about an opinion piece from a website none of us has ever read before and will never read after this?

It's funny how people say WE'RE up there with Portland these days... A couple years ago, people said Portland might be up there with us.

If you ask me, Portland's injury luck is still second place to ours, by just about any measure.

How about Denver in 2005? Melo didn't make it that year. Kyle will make it next year I believe, but even if he doesn't, Houston's a great city to host this thing. F**K that guy.

A lot of self depreciating fans. Besides the politics and back door deals, Houston is a major city with the infrastructure to support a major event. Mid size cities like Portland, OKC, Memphis, etc. can't support the influx of people. Plain and simple.

For those going on about not having an all star in the game, that's pretty irrelevant and goes back to to those fans enjoy who cutting themselves.

If Houston All Star Weekend is anything like Last Night, consider this a no watch for me...

One reason cited by the league is the lack of hotel rooms in certain cities (like Portland) to host all the NBA people and fans in town.

The irony of the article is LaMarcus Aldridge's name is just as unsexy as Lowry's, if not more. At least Lowry would be fun to watch in the all-star game.

If you can't get Houston to the All-Star Game, bring the All-Star Game to Houston.
