This is sad. Marvel is running out of ideas and slowly dying. They are now just cashing in from their Movies. I say it's time to reboot and create an alternative Universe.
Marvel has jumped the shark so badly and so often, I don't think there's any saving it. And ultimately, you're going to hit a wall trying to keep moving forward with the same continuity of characters for over 50 years. But I can't even try to casually follow Marvel/DC anymore. They've screwed around so much with the characters that it's pointless. And the ridiculous reshuffling of teams is out of control. They may as well rename The Avengers back to Marvel Team Up. Colossus is Juggernaught now? Cyclops is a bloodthirsty racist? Jesus. I suppose Secret Wars III is up next
Cyclops is racist now? I heard something about Cyclops instructing a girl to kill and Wolverine getting pissed? The Cyclops I know would never have done that. Unless Jean dying or the Apocalypse 12 thing screwed him up... but he was written well in the Whedon X-Men series. That was the last thing I read. I actually stopped reading years and years before that series but heard good things about it so I picked it up. I guess they don't produce that level of storytelling anymore?
As in mutants are superior to humans and should live separately from them. This character yanking around, to me, smacks of Heroes fatal mistake of flip flopping the personalities of their main characters 3-4 times a season for shock value.
That's sad. And he is still the leader of the X-Men? Where is Xavier in all of this? I love Magneto's plight, but its cheap when someone like Cyclops or Colossus crosses the river for no apparent reason.
The episode Sylar baked cookies for Peter was so sad. After that point his character was no longer even remotely "scary" or intimidating again, even when they made him a bad guy once more.
So.... it's a movie, or a comic? I generally like these movies, as I am not looking for Shakespeare when I go to enjoy one, but I am also getting bored with them rewriting things 4 times over as though it doesn't water it all down, whether it be comics OR movies. Part of becoming entrenched with these sorts of stories is the history. When you rewrite it all the time, alter for movies, whatever, you fracture the audience and it's attention span, imo.
