I rather try to convince Hakeem to come back and play before given Oden a look sad thing too the games he did play he was pretty effective his stats were pretty good like close to 10 points and 10 boards on a Portland team that had the slowest pace by far in the league and being the clear 3rd option (if not lower) it wouldnt be hard to imagine that him putting up something like 17-12 with a different team. But I have to question the portland scouts and medical staff really I mean it was no big secret that he had a leg that was slightly longer than the other leg and this isnt even counting his third leg either. I mean even if its just by 1/2 inch having a condition like that is bound to cause all sorts of issues stress wise on your body. It was just a matter of time before he would have had knee and foot injuries its a shame it happened so early in his career. Honestly if he stayed healthy the whole durant >>>>>>>>>>>>> oden thing wouldnt be as bad IMO I mean I still feel Durant is the better player but it would have been more how people dont necessarily find picking Olajuwon over Jordan as a "mistake" as they do with Bowie. Oden would have been an all-star out in the west if he remained healthy. Oh well I feel bad for Portland but not too bad. They had solid playoff teams destroyed by injuries, we had legitimate title contending teams destroyed by injuries
At the least, Hakeem could tutor the PFs and centers from the bench for several seasons. Oden is a zero on the bench that takes up a roster spot. If they need somebody to get free surgeries and collect millions, I'll take the position for half of Oden's rookie contract.
I think a healthy Oden would have basically been a taller, more skilled on offense version of Ben Wallace. His blocks & boards per minute were pretty sick in his very limited samples. Shame he never got to showcase them.
Someone will sign him. Hope he can put the injuries behind him in a new location a la Grant Hill. Not sure I'd like to see if it could happen in Houston, unless of course we're talking a league minimum flyer with 0 expectations. Then why not? While we're on the subject, how bad would it suck for the rest of the league if he ends up in Miami for next to nothing and stays healthy?
Man Portland really had a seemless transition from the Jordan/Drexler era to the Jailblazers to the Roy/Durant/LMA era. Well run group over there.
But he's got two even legs. Oden fractured a hip as a young'n and his legs are uneven because of it. He'll forever walk unevenly, despite orthotics (which may even be worse for him), so his knees will continue to take a beating. Say NO to Oden...besides, IIRC, he's going to miss all of next year as well.
Sucks for Oden. He'll be working Burger Joints because of his legs. He could've had an illustrious career....big men are in short supply.

An excellent player, with extremely awful luck. I hope he gets healthy and makes it back. He should look at going to the Suns.
I heard winery and politics are for the retired and often injuried centers. Greg Oden, it's your turn.
