Exactly. He's a very good player. He's not an all-star or superstar like the media has built him up to be. The scouting reports weren't out on him, so teams didn't know how to defend him in the first 5-6 starts. Furthermore, he's been facing bad teams in general. Some weaknesses of Lin that will be exploited: 1) He can't go left to save his life. 2) He dribbles the ball up so high, esp. on his crossover, which resulted in 3-4 turnovers tonight. 3) His first step isn't that great. He NEEDS the pick and roll to survive in this league. 4) Poor defender. I doubt the Heat would be as hyped to face Lowry as they were to face Lin tonight. Lin was more of a target than Melo and Amare combined tonight.
My expectations are for him to be a solid 12/5/5 player that can hit open threes and help close in late game situations. Sadly this hype has hurt him more than helped him.
This isn't the Lin I'm use to seeing but then again he's not playing the freaking Heats... Hope he stays strong after the All Star Break, games like this can mentally wear you out...
The real sad thing for NY is, despite such a horrendous performance, Lin still didn't look much worse than Baron Davis today. And Bibby + Douglas who averaged 40+/min in their first 20+ games both DNPed.
Even if the knicks suck they will make the playoffs. You think the cavs and backs will overtake them?
So how does a game like this effect Lin's psyche? Also what can Lin do better to counteract those dobule teams? I'm just wondering how Nash would've beat it.
Lin got his hands full in the next 30 games. Should be a tough testing ground for him and the Knicks. Wonder if or when he will hit his rookie wall. Boston 2 Dallas 1 San Antonio 1 Philadelphia 2 Chicago 3 Portland 1 Indiana 3 Orlando 2(depend if Howard is still there) Atlanta 2 Miami 1 Clippers 1
8 points and 8 turnovers tonight, yep props to Sports Illustrated for putting him on the cover two weeks in a row. It's a good story but they have just been setting this guy up for failure. God I hate the media
Not true. He went left plenty of times during the streak and was fairly effective. Problem is he can't finish with his left hand effectively. Hes dribble is fine, the real problem is he has a bad habit of jumping up then pass without knowing where his teammates are, limited court vision that is. His first step is as good as it gets, he blows by anyone during the streak. You need to actually watch the game mate.
