Kind of a tease that you didnt include anything except an ordinary comment with this headline to the thread.
Are you talking about this? http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/stor...ing-pau-gasol-best-way-fix-los-angeles-lakers
I would probably do it. He's a direct, massive upgrade over Scola. Morris and Budinger aren't getting any playing time anyway, and I'm becoming very sold on Parsons to the point where I begin to wonder whether Morris will ever be better than him. Essentially the only production we subtract from our current, playoff-contending team is Dragic's, and to me that's worth it to get a player of Gasol's caliber. A Lowry/Gasol duo with a deep team around them could potentially contend for a championship in my opinion, especially if we can use expiring contracts to acquire an upgrade at center like Kaman.
If that happens, we are championship contenders. I love Scola but man. If we can get that trade and have Lowry, Martin, Parsons, Pau, Dalembert starters with Courtney Lee 6th man and Pat Pat, you have to do it in a hearbeat. Backup point would be needed (heard Llull wouldn't mind coming over)
i wonder how old are you. i hope you're not over 18. Lakers arent even doing well with Gasol/Kobe/Bynum, why do some people here think he can help this team get better with him and leftover here. plus why do we want to help Lakers of all teams? i dont mind taking a risk on someone young like Cousins but Gasol?
Lowry/Flynn Martin/Lee Parsons/T-Will Gasol/Patterson Dalembert/Hill I would probably do this. With the exception of Flynn, I like this lineup a lot. All the Free T-Will posters would get their wish.
Maybe a bit. I think a lot of fans still haven't adjusted to how short of a rotation McHale likes to run, to the point where he would rather go small than put in a true SF whose name isn't Parsons. We'd probably have to see T-Will a little bit though just as a ripple effect from losing Dragic.
Lakers are in no position to demand anything and gasol isnt exactly beasting this year, id give them Scola, Flynn, Bud and the NY pick...not dragic, not morris, for gasols ridiculous contract and how he's performing this year...thats more than fair.
I doubt it, maybe T-Will but definitely not Morris. I'd do it if you replaced those two in the trade.
I'd hate to give up on Morris so soon, but I'd probably pull the trigger. Especially if Llull comes over next season to backup Lowry.
At first glance this deal looks good. Gasol can play 5 and 4, and he's a better rebounder, defender, and equally as good of a scorer as Scola. Dragic is a UFA, so he needs to be dealt anyway, Morris is a 3/4 tweener who can't shoot the 3-ball (a dime a dozen), Bud's a good role-player, but not worth holding up the deal for. Looking at at Gasol's salary, consider that it's over 19 mil per, for the next two seasons, so it's quite a committment. In doing this deal you still haven't addressed the logjam at 2-guard, while leaving us a real thin at the 3 position. But when you consider Scola's contract runs at $10 mil per, over the next 3 seasons, and how much it would improve our front court, I think you'd have to do this deal. Lowry, Gasol, and Martin are nice scoring options. If we could somehow find a way to add another piece through free agency, or the draft, we'd be super competitive.
