Neither GM has said whether they'd do that deal. What has been deciminated is Mitch won't do Bynum/Gasol for Dwight/Hedo. He wants back a PF too. And Otis won't do Dwight for Bynum straight up. He wants more talent back and rid of bad contracts like Hedo. Therefore, I threw in Anderson (young stretch 4) and Jameer (PG upgrade for LA, contract removal for Orlando). Orlando may then decide to move Pau for Martin/Scola/Dragic and be up and running with Dragic, Martin, SF, Bynum, and Scola. That's a pretty good team for them.
What's sad is the Lakers have close to an identical record as the Rockets and they look at their situation as disarray and Rockets look at their situation as overachieving... so whose really trying to win?
There's supposed to be some kind of power struggle between Jim Buss and Jeanie Buss. We've seen these articles before. Except they were about Jerry Buss and how he is a misogynist. How Jeanie was the most competent of his brood and deserved to run the Lakers. Don't mess with the PR girl.
considering the lakers have one of the best ever to play the game in Kobe albeit that he is aging but still leading the league in scoring, one of the best centers in the game today in bynum (though the center position is terrible in todays nba) and one of the best PFs in the game and another top 15 player in Gasol. the talent drop off between the #3 guy on the lakers and the #4 is huge -- not as much with the Rockets who have a lot of talented guys but probably do not have one singular guy who could be viewed as talented as Gasol, Bynum and Kobe. its all about expectations -- the lakers were supposed to contend but have looked very mediocre -- the rockets were supposed to be very bad to mediocre and yet are in the thick of the playoff race. I would be extremely upset if I was a Lakers fan with all the talent that they have that they arent a top 3 team in the west right now. As for their front office -- they never really had a history of drafting well, gave a lot of foolish contracts to a lot of bad players and really outside of the no brainer Gasol deal which was aided by mr laker himself jerry west i have always believed the lakers front office was ridiculously overrated. the won big recently and have banked on their success and the lure of a large market be their main marketing tools (not bad options either of course) but they never really address their main problems just try to put on bandages and hope that work and then of course to top it all off they trade the reigning 6th man of the year to a conference rival for a large TE which if they dont use in a future trade means he was traded for nothing. Not a smart move and you can see how it has been effecting the team this year
Um I wouldn't really call it exaggerating because he's mad he didn't get an interview. There are a number of Lakers beat and feature writers that have said the same thing A LOT of times over the past few months.
DeVos is the oldest of old school owners, being 85, he already lost 1 franchise center to the lakers, there's no way he lets that happen again unless they take the Lakers to the cleaners. No way Andersen even gets smelt in a deal, it'll be Dwight and Hedo's crappy contract for Gasol and Bynum, maybe some scraps, but no way Jameer and Mr Anderson are part of it.
Finally, a short break from Laker dominance. How long before Stern takes over the Lakers front office for "basketball reasons"?
And now Magic Johnson has gotten in on the act, saying that Kobe needs to sit down with Jim Buss and discuss his grievances instead of airing them through the media.
