I was bored with the farm before they got to the farm. It's been all downhill since the geezer spotted a herd of walkers heading towards his RV.
Some of the best part of the first season was the scenery. dead cities etc. ANd them constantly on the move. now its kind of stagnant. still this episode was better than the last and it looks Spoiler s*** is about to hit the fan between rick and that other dude.[\spoiler]
It's hard to believe how all of these people got infected with how incompetent the zombies are. They are way too slow.
Awesome episode ...lots of tension. Shane's arguments make complete sense. Not because he's right (he isn't) but because he has mentally checked out. He's become completely delusional and is a ticking time bomb. Rick's evolving character is a thing of beauty...from putting bullets in the two guys heads the previous episode to ripping the other guy's leg off the fence in this one. And his reaction at the end...Shane's right a war is brewing, just not the one he expects. I don't see what the big deal is about Lori. She does some stupid things from time to time but I give her props for sticking with Rick. And I can't blame her one bit for telling him about Shane after their conversation. Glenn was an idiot. So what he froze..he cared about his own ass for a second. You're human! The biggest thing that is annoying about Dale is that he constantly complains about Shane but doesn't do anything about it. I hope Heshel doesn't die, cause he's a good guy. And Daryl... Makes perfect sense that he's become a tertiary character lately. Clearly Sophia's death has hit him harder than he's willing to admit. So instead of expressing any kind of remorse he finds it easier to stop caring about anything again. And him and the mother...I always saw their relationship as mother/son ...I dont see any sexual tension there. Can't wait to see what happens next episode.
its kind of sad when you want just about every character to get eaten already. Darryl is the only genuine character hopefully he gets more time
It was good... How many more episodes till they get off that damn Farm.. Anybody follow through with Comic Book Men???
easily. that was intense. great scenes between each duo of characters. just a great dynamic between the scenes at the farm and the other location.
What I really liked about this episode is that none of the female characters were in any of the important scenes, so it was easy to fast forward through whatever they were doing.
Explain something to me. Lots of talk about going "stealth" mode with the knives. I get that. Then, to draw interest from the security guard zombies, Rick cuts his finger to draw blood, and smears it on the nearby fence. We've established in previous episodes that this is a blood-borne disease, no? And previously, they used all manner of protection (goggles, plastic, etc.) to avoid catching this blood-borne disease. But nowhere have we established that they prefer drying blood on fenceposts over the moveable feasts which are walking, talking, deliciously actual humans. So, they stealth ice the security guards (Rick first, then Shane). Then they have a discussion about, absent any bite marks, how the guards must have caught the disease through possible scratches. Okay. Cut to ten minutes later, and Shane cuts his own damn hand, and smears his blood all over the bus entrance to create a diversion. (Again, WHY? But okay.) So, his hand bloodied, he begins to kebob the zombies one-by-one as they attempt to enter. Good plan, I guess, except he just cut open his own hand with his knife, exposing himself to all the zombie blood he plans to start spilling. And, in doing so, presumably used the same knife, on himself, he just used to decapitate the zombie security guard! It's a virus, it's blood-borne, it's likely passed through scratches, but Rick and Shane open up flesh wounds on themselves, and Shane uses the same knife to cut himself that he just used to kill a zombie? This is not sterile procedure. How is this not a gaping, and completely unnecessary, plot hole? And why even bother? It doesn't matter to the story. Seriously, I don't even know anymore.
Maybe Shane got scratched, and doesn't realize it. Maybe another character gets scratched next episode. Who knows. All this episode proves is which characters matter and which don't.
What was up with Shane staring at the one walker in that field? Twice? Was there a significance to it?
I thought about that when, moments after slicing his finger open, Rick grabbed the first walker to emerge from the building, knifed him repeatedly, then hid under him to avoid detection by the other zombies.
So far, the only way I know this virus is transferred is: 1.) Bites 2.) Scratches (latest episode) That doesn't necessarily mean blood will transfer the virus...unless I am missing something? In fact, a scratch may imply it is not the blood versus the contact (maybe zombie saliva transfer from saliva on the fingers and saliva from the bites)? Then again...could be blood on their fingers from their victims. I just don't recall anyone getting it from blood transfer alone. But, did they ever really explain how the zombie virus broke out? Somebody got it originally from somewhere. Could it be there are zombies who were turned without being bitten or scratched during the initial outbreak?
