God [blah blah blah], Allah [blah blah blah], and Zeus [blah blah blah blah], but Huitzilopócthli said [blah blah blah]!!! and I hate democrats/republicans/Asians/blacks/Hispanics/immigrants/Irish/Papua-New-Guineans/Macs/PCs! and There, it's D&D-related now.
For instance, there is the sad sad case of Dr. John Money who was considered probably the preeminent sexual identity researcher a few decades ago and his disgusting use of David Reimer as his personal guinea pig. If you have the chance, I suggest everyone read As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised as a Girl to see how completely off these children sex researchers can be and the dire consequences it can have for everyone around them.

That guy and situation you are referring to has absolutely nothing to do with this situation. That doctor you are referring to was a nut case. They aren't forcing a sex change after a botched circumcision in this situation. The child feels and acts female but was born male. Transgender people usually show their true personality at very young ages as with this kid. The parents are allowing the child to live as a girl. This is what they should do.
Do you think it is sick when you see a girl being a tomboy? Girls acting like guys is much more accepted in society.
I remember seeing a 20/20 episode on this issue <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Utpam0IGYac" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=3088298&page=1#.T0QPw_EgfRw Apparently it happens alot. Honestly I don't even know what to make of it.
I am all for parents allowing the child to live as a girl. I just feel that it should be a decision by the child at an age in which the child can make the best decision for his or her life.
I know a parent who came to this decision respect to her son. She struggled with it and even fought him over it for a couple of years, even spending one year allowing him to dress one way at home in exchange for him dressing like a boy at school. Eventually, she saw her not accepting who he knew he was caused more pain than any bully could. She let him do his thing and he got a lot happier. I think he ended up at a middle school with a strong transgender community. The dude did have great fashion sense, though. Really knew how to rock a headband.
There is nothing illegal in any state about hitting a child w/ an open hand. Also, I'd think 5 years old may be too young, but in many cultures this is regularly done at an early age & the kids are much better for it later.
