I have no doubt in my mind that Courtney Lee can start. I think Patterson can too, but I'm not 100% sure.
Courtney Lee can definetly start... i can see him dropping 12-15ppg along with MUCH MUCH better defense... I believe 2Pat could, but in all likely trades we are getting a PF(unless we somehow land dwight) so that would prevent him from starting anyways... My concern is the lack of depth at the guard positions... lowry and dragic can play as tweeners, but if we lose both dragic and martin???? were left with a backcourt of lowry/flynn lee/???? we could play budinger at backup sg, as well as give twill some minutes... but thats thin... super thin... an injury would cripple us... a frontcourt, no matter how strong it is, is ineffective without a servicable backcourt... i support a scola/martin/dragic for gasol deal... but we have to find guard depth as-well...pick up ish smith...maybe a 1strd pick for mayo along with hill or bud would solve the problem... i know i would love that line-up... lowry/flynn/ish mayo/clee/twill parson/morris/twill gasol/ppat/gsmith dally/gasol/gsmith
Coaches play him as a 3 or 4 since he's come into the league. He's more like Morris with hops than Parsons.
Patterson should start. He can hit the midrange jumper like Scola but actually defends his man and is great on Pick and Rolls. Scola could use the rest and come off the bench until he's traded or waived.
Pats ready ... His jumpshot is becoming more and more consistent, and he's becoming a great defender ... He shut Gasol down almost the entire 4th quarter.
The rotation is perfect as it is IMO, McHale has done a good job of mixing offense and defense Lowry (offense and defense) Martin (offense) Parsons (defense) Scola (offense) Dally (defense) bench Dragic (offense) Lee (defense/offense) Bud (offense) Pat (defense/offense) Hill (nothing)
Dragic plays pretty good defense too, at least he hustles a lot. Unfortunately his offense has been nonexistent lately. Hill isn't that bad. He's just inconsistent. Some games he plays great and others not so much.
i agree... but i do think ppat could start in place of scola... but mchale makes the smart decision to keep the experienced leader of the team as the 'starter' while dishing out even if not more minutes to ppat... lets face it, scolas D is becoming a liability... ppat is starting to bring equal offensive production to the table except for the few nights when scola is 'hot' and working the post moves against a lesser defender, otherwise he is shooting up the same 15-18 footers as ppat... unfrtunatly for scola and fortunatly for ppat is he is becoming consistent with his shot... i could see him devoloping some post up moves under mchale and being a solid starter in the future...
Lee had his major minutes in NJ, I don't think it worked out that well to be honest. I've really lliked Lee since his rookie season, he's a really effective player, but I think his ceiling is what he is now, a great slasher and spot up shooter but a 4th option on a contender team.
Yep,both can start, but unless you get a couple of superstars, they're just avg guys. Lee started at nj and shot under 40%. P=terson has a money spot up jumper, good defense and rebounding,he's a maxxed out product.
Clearly you do not watch Josh Smith play. The guy is more than flash, he's an absolute beast. Your overrating Parsons defense. Josh Smith - 16.0 pts 9.5 reb 1.5 stl 2.1 blk I would love Josh Smith on the Rockets
Lee can start now, Patterson will be more than capable once he is 100% healthy. An interesting thing to think about though: Keeping Courtney Lee on the bench could produce another Lowry type situation contractually. I'm all for Lee starting, but keeping him on the bench for the remainder of this season, and paying him handsomely for a backup in the offseason could result in Lee becoming an underpaid starter, just like Lowry. However, I'm not sure how much keeping him on the bench will affect his value, as teams like the Bulls are clearly interested in snagging Lee. Also, if a worthy trade presents itself, it would be foolish not to trade K Mart just in an effort to keep Lee's value down. I know I'm contradicting myself a little, but I think it would be pretty awesome to have two starters making 6th man money.
I would love to see Lee as a starter, he is way better than Martin defensively and high potential on offense too. if there is a trade to come n if Martin n Scola being shipped out, most likely upgrade position is either 4 or 5, then Pat can be either starter or first man out. Mchale use Lee and Pat on 4th qrt more than Kmartin and Scola, that can tell who are better.
They're both fully capable, but -- at least for now -- our offense would take a serious hit. For all of Martin's flaws he's a fantastic scorer, recent production doesn't change that.
The future at PF is locked up with Patterson and Donatas. There's enough proven potential there to rely on one to become a star. Lee is good, and can be an effective starter as long as he's not asked to be a playmaker. Pairing him with a guy like Melo may actually be a pretty good fit. Here's what I would do if I'm the rockets: Trade Martin, Flynn, Parsons, and NYK 1st to the Knicks for Melo. Knicks get a backup PG, efficient scorer in Martin, talented SF with Parsons, and their pick. Trade Scola and Hill for Kaman. Hornets cut $2.5 million off their salary, and get a quality PF. Rockets use Kaman's expiring to clear cap for Howard in the offseason. 2013 Rockets Lowry/Lull Lee/Lull Melo/Budinger Patterson/Montejunis Howard/Dalembert
Lee could start, but has hit his ceiling. He often has had shooting droughts similar to K-Mart's in the past as a starter. Leaving him totally ineffective as he always avoids contact whenever he drives. Starting C-Lee and P-Pat now, would be a tankers dream come true. Patterson still needs a much better post game and also needs to become more aggressive offensively. Do you remember the last time you saw P-Pat at the line more than once a game, even with extended minutes? He can develop into a starter, but I think many overvalue his potential, much like we did Landry. Players often become exposed, once they become starters.
