I really enjoy the radio guys, and they always seem informed, one of them should take over or be brought up every once in a while.
What? The radio guys still haven't mastered radio, although I have noticed improvement recently. There needs to be a better balance of straight description vs. using metaphor/nick names to describe actions and people. When used in moderation it works. Sometimes they both go over the top. ...they are both very witty...but sometimes the brain needs to work less when listening...It takes time to learn that balance. Also I like it when both radio guys are together and one focuses on play-by-play and the other analysis. It was better today. They have the talent... Less is more on TV. We have a glue guy in Worell and I think he's done a great job complimenting whoever he's worked with in the past. Drexler, Bull, Calvin, Jon Barry, Tom Nisalke,...although I have their images in my head, a couple other names escape me.. Bull is very good at what he does as he has good insight and I for one like his sense of humor...humor is personal though...some people only get or want to get 1 or 2 types of humor... Drexler is Drexler--a legend. That is good enough for me...
i love clyde but everytime he says "ya think" i wanna punch the tv for some reason...i laugh at everything else though.
Bullard's not bad...I could deal with him as full time analyst. Why does Clyde even do it? It's not like he needs the money.
Rudy has a BBAAAD mouth. Loves to curse. He's dropped some bad language on accident on a couple occations during radio interviews.
"Shooting the lights out of the ball" -- I've heard that expression before. I don't think it qualifies as a Drexlerism.
bill tried to pass off devin harris as having some "great years" at dallas clyde said, i would call them great i know he's no calvin murphy and he frusrtrated me at times too, but clyde is far better at being a color analyst than bill is doing play by play, bill exaggerates most things and when him and bull are together dear lord the homerism is unbearable at times clyde is a hall of famer, a houston product, no that doesnt give him the excuse to be bad, but damn where are yall from? clowning on fools cause it seems cool is the new hispster
Nooooo no no. In fact, half the time its radio GUY, not GUYS. Only Craig Ackerman goes on the road. So its him, talking to himself. Joel Blank adds nothing. Has really no basketball knowledge. And HOLY HELL the RHYMING of the half time highlights makes my skin crawl. He rhymed something with X-Lax the other day. Swear to god. Craig Ackerman does his awful "OAHHHHHHHHHH!!!" screams when someone dunks. Or when he talks through free throws and doesn't tell you the result before the other team has already scored. I want Gene and Jim back.
I know you're not serious KG. He's been trashed for being awful since day one. And he's really become worse over time. You can tell he doesn't care. Our color analyst doesn't go in road games. Hello?
so what he doesnt do road games, he doesnt like to travel, that doesnt mean he doesnt care, people started to bag on him cause they wanted calvin back, drexler is not as bad as many like to believe he is, bill on the other hand...
Bull the other day said "What the Rockets are going to do here is take the clock down to 32 seconds to ensure a 2-for-1. 32 seconds is the key.". Boom. Rockets take the shot at 32 seconds. More insightful than anything Clyde has ever said. He tells no stories about his playing career. No rockets stories. No dream team stories. No detailed offensive or defensive commentary. He just repeats what Bill says. Laughs. And says "now that's what you call.... *insert exactly what the player is doing or did*." Bill: Al Jefferson shooting 5 of 6 in the paint. Clyde: Now that's what you call, being efficient in the post. Heh heh heh.
And what do you mean "so what" he doesn't do road games. How is that not proof he just isn't committed to becoming a better broadcaster. Bull WANTS to do this. He uses the telestraiter. He compares what's happening on the floor to his past experiences. That's what former players should do.
I know it's not a Drexlerism, but just to fuel the Clyde/Bull debate - I heard this last night. Bull: Look at that nice left handed finish. Every NBA player needs to be able to play with both hands. You have to be amphibious to play in this league.
