    No.

They go away on their own, like the common cold.

Another vote for a teaspoon of sugar. My bio teacher told me about it in high school, and it has yet to fail me since.

Killing yourself should end the hiccups.

How is it that in 2012 people still don't understand hiccups??

Hiccups is your body's way of telling you that it needs more oxygen. In order to make the hiccups stop, just start taking rapid deep breaths, for maybe 30 seconds.

    Hiccups gone.

I know it's boring, and it's not a weird old wives tale, but it works. Any of the other remedies which happen to work, work because they make you take more and deeper breaths. Simple.

I been eating out a couple of times and everytime I order a coke zero I get the freaking hiccups that last for 2 days. So now I just order ice tea with the combo and never gotten the stupid hiccups again. Just stay away from carbonated drinks after a full meal.

Oh, the method that sometime works for me is pinching your nose with one hand and gulp down a large cup of water slowly and hopefully you will swallow that air of hiccup down with it.

I have done the drinking water, and it works, but when I dont have water, I just hold my breath for about 15 secs, sometimes I had to do it like 3 or 4 times.

Nero, like most other times, has the right answer.

Homey here at work just positioned his body a certain way, and then they stopped. WTH, right?
You will now have the hiccups in one of the next few days... just because you said this.

I tried this with sugar water last time I got the hiccups. Worked great. And my hiccups are VIOLENT. Usually last for hours and make my whole chest sore the next day...
