Can Hiccups Be Cured? Well, can they? Explain why you can or why you can't cure them. I think you can... but you just don't want to. In all seriousness, I think you can.
^ Try something else! I think you try all the "home remedies" until one works... and by trying all those, you'll eventually concentrate enough on the hiccups... that they're gone.
sometimes telling a person that if they hiccup for you 5 times in a minute then you will give them $20 works. Unfortunately if they do i'm proven to be a liar.
A solid punch to the solar plexus should do it. It that doesn't work the first time, just keep doing it.
Worked for Harry Houdini. Oh, wait... The spoonful of sugar trick works for me. Was published in the New England Journal of Medicine: http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM197112232852622 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/5122907
10 smallish, consecutive swallows of water without breathing/stopping in between. It's not just drinking water. Works every time for me.
Take a deep breathe and hold it for 15 seconds; without releasing that breathe, take another breathe and hold for an additional 15 seconds; without releasing the two previous, take another breathe (your lungs should be full by now) and hold it as long as you possibly can. When you can hold it in no longer, slowly exhale. Works every time.
This is what I do. Take a breath and hold it. Then swallow. Swallow again. And again. When you think you can't swallow anymore, swallow again. Works every time. Probably works on the same principle as above.
Stand with both arms raised straight up. Have someone else feed you water and drink for about ten seconds while your hands are raised. Hiccups gone....works every time!
I tried it, your GF certainly did the trick! Only thing was after I finished she started getting the hiccups, but as suggested in this thread I tried to give her a couple of solid punches to her solar plexus internally but that didn't work .
