it seems to me dantoni's offensive system has some key differneces than the one in new york. phoenix with nash was all about getting the offensive rebound or the quick inbounds pass, fast breaking it up court and scoring in 7 seconds or less. Scoring over 100+ was a nightly thing and they were #1 in points scored. With jeremy lin, it's seems to be a more methodical controlled pace with Lin running half-courts sets and running nothing but pick and rolls. For everyone saying it's dantoni's system, a pick and roll is the easiest way to score! More teams need to do this. Kudos to Lin for executing it perfectly!
They aren't quite as run and gun, sure, but there are a lot of similarities in the system. The Suns half-court sets were similarly predominantly pick and roll. What you'll find is with HOF level guard play and great big men, pick and roll works and can get you far. But relying exclusively on that will cause trouble, especially in the playoffs, where the better defensive teams are capable of rotating beyond three or four passes. What would make NY so dangerous, offensively is if Melo integrates well.
