Where do you put the blame, T-Will or Rockets organization ?

Discussion in 'Houston Rockets: Game Action & Roster Moves' started by OlajuwonFan81, Feb 19, 2012.

Who is at fault for T-Will not getting the playing time ?

  1. Rockets organization, he has too much talent to be on the bench.

  2. T-Will, he hasn't gotten playing time from multiple head coaches and seems to be a headcase.

Morey is to be blamed for the trade. He traded a non-lottery pick for a guy with potential. This is the swing for the fences type of move that he gets blamed for not making. He missed at a fastball a little too tight. 0-1 count. TWill right now is like a knuckleball in the dirt. Morey is laying off that pitch. 1-1 count. Still should be a 2-0 count, but at least he doesn't go chasing after mistakes.

There are times when the Rockets offense gets extremely stagnant, where nobody can create a shot. It seems like that would be the perfect time to throw TWill in there.

My issue is when the players in the rotation are struggling all of the players available aren't utilized ... You never know who could turn things around if given the opportunity ... Even if its just a couple of minutes.

I should have added "in my opinion," because that's what it is, my opinion, but look at how McHale has handled the roster. Against the Jazz, Smith gets 12 minutes. That's serious time for a dude right off the bus from D-League. Look at the other young players that have gotten time. Parsons, obviously, who has been a starter for a while now. Everyone else who plays at a position Williams might play at has deserved minutes, and were here producing before Williams showed up. Just before he was cut, Adrien was given significant time and produced. The team has a great deal of depth at the positions Williams would play. That's just how it is (ask Adrien). Williams has to show McHale that he deserves to be on the court in front of those other players on the depth chart. It's obvious that he hasn't. I don't think it's because of some "grand conspiracy." It's Rockets science.

The most obvious sign that Williams is out of favor with McHale? When Courtney Lee went down. That was clearly the chance Williams needed to show what he can do. So what happened? Williams continued to sit. Why? The only logical explanation I can think of is that Williams hasn't produced in practice. The only other possibility, IMO, would be that he's a problem in the locker room, and I haven't heard that he is, so what other explanation could there be? Parsons has assumed a huge role with the team. Why not Williams if he has the talent, combined with the smarts, that so many here say that he has? Does anyone seriously think McHale wouldn't play him if he thought Williams would help the team on the court? And McHale isn't alone. As others have pointed out, no less than Rick Adelman and Avery Johnson decided not to give Williams minutes. Those decisions aren't made in a vacuum.

Rockets for trading for him in the first place. Twill for not being talented enough to do anything with that opportunity Morey wanted to give him.

Couldnt have been said any better....its on him....nothing is given ,talent or not you have to WORK to get where and what you want.More of a life lesson than basketball philosophy.

Watch him light it up for some other team.
Seems to be the trend for the Rockets now a days.

First off, I think it's Morey's fault for trading a 1st round pick for him and he isn't getting playing time, but to be fair, where are you going to put him? We all know he can play 3 different positions (PG, SG, SF). PG is set with Lowry and Dragic. SG is set with Martin and Lee so SF was his best bet to get minutes before the season. Budinger was the starter at first, but he got benched in favor of Parsons. Morris is in the d-league. When T-will did get minutes with us he was averaging 5 ppg and 2 rpg. Parsons is averaging 7 ppg as a starter for us. I just find it stupid that McHale doesnt even let him in the game if the game is a blowout. Now if we let T-Will go and he goes off on another team I am going to be pissed and calling for Morey's head to be fired.

Morey got rid of Battier. Adelman played TWill a couple of games, TWill played terribly, Adelman stopped playing TWill and gave more minutes to Budinger who was playing well.

TWill had another chance under McHale but Parsons beat him out.

    How is that Morey's fault?
