Intelligent players know what they do best and a shooting guard's main job is to shoot, score, and drive.
For the nth time, Williams WAS given opportunities. McHale let him play 20+ minutes a game for the first two week of the season. AND HE SUCKED. How much more chances do you want to give him before you are convinced that he is just not very good.
Morey took a chance on him and it didn't work out. Probably the only high-profile mistake he's made so far that he hasn't made up for. Rinse and move on...
I can't believe people like you still exist. After all this time, and all his repeated failures to get a chance, you really think the Williams would have been ANY better for us than Martin or Lee?
There's a reason why 3 coaches didn't play him. Free Twill - let him go play for another team. This reminds me of the whole Jermaine Taylor situation.
He did get about 30 minutes a game at the end of his rookie year he averaged 14-6-5 for a couple months.
Do you want to guess how many players in the entire league average more than 14 points 5 rebounds and 4 assists a game? Remember those 2 big monsters from Minny from a few nights ago, those were McHale picks. Two words to describe TWill, Von Wafer. You know how many teams Wafer has been on besides Rockets?
It's also worth noting that those guys are actually PLAYING in the league and not rotting at the end of the bench for yet another coach. Ability does not equal production on a good team if one is unwilling to learn how to play as part of a team.
You need to read previous posts. He played in seven games starting this year and averaged 17 mins. He play one decent game and then went down hill. He had a chance but we arent going to risk losing more games to let him get worse. Notice he played in the beginning and we went 3-7. Nuff said
No. I rather prefer him average less, go from there, improving year by year. He is not doing that. Good players do explode at some time. He can't stay here so he should go somewhere else.
What I want to know is why Feigan and others still waste their time interviewing this scrub. Of course he isnt going to be a Rocket next season. Move on, and I can guarantee that he will be waived if they cant find a team that will take him after the trade deadline.
This isn't an accurate comparison. What you'd need to find (assuming you really want to spend the time) is all the players who averaged similar stats over an equivalent number of games. I imagine the number of players with good stretches is much higher. The other question to be answered - what was the Nets' record during that time of that stretch? Good stats don't always translate to improved team play - sometimes it just meant that somebody was dominating the ball. For example, Francis used to get into the paint and grab rebounds, but as a result, the Rockets had no fast breaks whatsoever. Then again,we really didn't want Francis running the fast break (he was probably the worst PG I've ever seen when it came to 3 on 1s - you could almost count on him passing to the wrong guy at the wrong time or running into an opposing player and getting a charging foul), but my point is the same. Unless you are the superstar, you need to do what's needed for the team - not what's good for your stats. I'm not sure Twill gets this distinction.
You can't fix stupid. Apparently Morey thought he could, or didn't know he was this stupid. He's got a good basketball IQ but his maturity is the worst I've ever seen, and if you can't maintain your composure you're not going to last long in this league. I'm sure it's translated to the practice court too, which is why he is DNP-CD every night. I mean is there any doubt that Parsons, Bud, Lee, and Martin all work harder than him (and keep their mouth shut)? That's all this boils down to. Martin was freakin traded away before the season and benched in the second half a few games ago and has still kept his mouth shut and showed up for work.
