It's not a matter of who is better. Lowry is our PG and is pretty good. I voted for him. But Lin is doing something no one has done, not MJ, not Shaq, not the Dream, and that is to be a starter, lead the team to the wins and score that much. No, he is not better than any of those players but what he did is special and what is worst is that he did it while Knicks lost their stars due to injury, meaning they should have been losing 7 in a role instead of winning 7 in a role. So that NY pick the Rockets own will likely be a late round 1st instead of potential lottery pick. That really sucks. And for those who thinks having Amare and Melo back will hurt his game, I think having 3 options will make that team even better. They where dying to get a good PG and now they have one. Sure, Lin will probaby not score as much but he did have 13 assists last game. Dame, that kid will make the Knick good. I am not upset that Lin was here but now he is gone. There was no room here with the 2 PGs we have here. Too bad that trade didn't go thru. If it did, Lin would be a Rocket and when Lowry was hurt, that magic would have happened here instead of in NY. It does suck that all the Chinese will be following the Knicks instead of being mildly interested in Yao's old team. One more thing, the fact that Lin is a born again christian and is giving the Lord all the credit makes this a even better story.
Both. I am greedy like that. they are both big for point guards and strong. You could make them interchangeable back court possibly. Start both and have traded Martin and Scola much easier by now.
How does the fact that an Asian person may live to be 80 as opposed to perhaps 75 for a black person have the slightest effect on his basketball career again? I mean, you just completely pulled that 23=20 thing right out of your ass right?
I really do feel like Lin is turning into the better player. he has been playing lights out for 10 straight games, as much as i love lowry i dont remember him lighting it up and carrying his team for that long.
Yeah he lights it up every now and then, i dunno, just watching Lin and how he is playing leaves me feeling like Lin is a better player. Its just my opinion, that doesnt mean its right, but i cant help but to feel this way (very depressing). Nothing ever turns out right when it comes to the rockets.
Put lowry in a knick uniform under mike dantoni's offense and see what happens! Heck, even chris freaking duhon who isn't known for his offense lit it up for quite sometime with the knicks as a starter.
Lowry just CHOSE not to will us to a victory in the 3 losses to the T-Wolves huh? Well if he could have willed us to win and didn't, then I pick Lin.
I just dont see a killer instinct in Lowry. He rarely takes the game in his hands when we need it and just drives to the hole like the great pg's do (rose, westbrook, paul, williams). He either passes it off and drives to the hole and flops without even trying to make the basket, that **** gets on my nerves, just try to score the damn ball and stop trying to flop. What i have seen in Lin is a killer instinct and a will to win and the guts to take it in his hands to actually try to score and win. Just my two cents, it doesnt mean im right, its just how i feel.
It's a different offensive system and different styles. Knick's offense is about running the PnR will Jeremy Lin nearly every time down the court and playing off of that. On top of that, Jeremy Lin has a usage that is among the highest in the league. Why? Because the Knicks have no one else to run the point or consistently break people down with the ball. The Rockets do run some PnR but not all the time, and not exclusively with Lowry having the ball. They get touches for Scola, Martin, and others as well. You have to remember that the season started off with the offensive system being an inside-out game based on Scola. They have modifie that since it failed, but that was the intention. On top of that, the Rockets do have multiple people who can handle the ball other than Lowry such as Dragic and Lee. This means there are fewer times when Lowry is dictating play. That stretch were Lowry was playing amazing, he was playing nearly 40 minutes a game with an amazingly high ball usage. He was able to maintain it for nearly 4-5 weeks or so, but that was it. Because is the best player on this team right now, or at least at the same talent level as Martin & Scola. Lin on the other hand will not be getting back players (already gotten Amare) who have more talent than any on the Rockets. When Lin starts to burn out some in a few weeks, they will be able to help him out. Lastly, you cannot forget that Lin has Tyson Chandler solidifying their defense. When Dalembert was playing well, albeit with few minutes, the Rockets were rolling. However, Dalembert has not been able to do that consistently, whereas Chandler has all season. Ironically, this season, that team's issue was scoring efficiency not defensive efficiency even with Amare & Melo. You are right about things Not turning out right though.
Yeah i agree that different styles and systems will affect the players stats. Im just disappointed in the lack of a killer instinct in kyle and the apparent abundance of killer instinct in Lin.
Guess what? If Aaron Brooks were starting for the Knicks, he would be doing the same thing. OMG, they are talking about J. Lin on ABC World News!!!! He is everywhere!!!!
You really don't think Kyle has a killer instinct? I think they guy does just about everything it takes to win. However, I do think that he is so hot headed at times he allows his emotions to get the best of him and it causes him to drive relentlessly to the basket in hopes of drawing a foul. He is not nearly as proficient as he used to be at drawing fouls and it does end up making our offense falter towards the end of games. Regardless, aside from the times he is complaining about calls (which admittedly is WAY too much), the guy gives 110% every night and does as much as he can to win games. Kyle has been very clutch for us down the stretch in a handful of games this year... Kevin Martin on the other hand absolutely lacks a killer instinct. I think Kevin has a silky smooth offense but one cannot deny that he considers himself an "unselfish player" and the majority of the time will not demand the ball (as he should) down the stretch. He is a phenomenal first half player and an inconsistent (at best) fourth quarter player.
Well that is why Kevin Martin is a second/third option type player, not a guy you build a team around. He's still a real good player though.
Yep, Morey had it right when he acquired him as a complementary piece to Yao, unfortunately that didn't work out. Now, we are especially suffering at times because of our lack of a player who can post up/play the in and out game with Martin. Scola has never really been a great passer and it really seems the league has his post game figured out. I don't have the stats for it, but subjectively he really seems to be a mess with his back to the basket this year, and in late game situations, he is turning it over in the post at an alarming rate. I miss hearing him called "the ice cream man." No one is falling for the scoop this year and it seems the majority of his points are jumpers, put backs, and buckets in transition. Just gotta hope he goes on his yearly 2nd half tear again...
