No of course they do. Problem is that Asians are rare in the NBA. Add a guy doing real good who is Asian and you will get Asians who don't even watch basketball of a sudden watching him just b/c he's Asian. Theirs major homers for Asians players compared to just another white or black guy you see on every team. Most white basketball fans i know are kobe fans. Most people who defended Yao along with me when arguing with people about how good he was were black people. White people always hated on Yao whether it was a friend, friend of friend or random conversation in bars.
B/c you are him. His mind is yours and you will know everything he will feel and do when all of that happens. You must not know the NY media. They will build him up and make him feel king of the world. But, he better keep it up, b/c they will turn on him and make his life a living hell very quickly.
Why so negative? Were you upset that black people who never watched golf became interested when Tiger won majors? I don't see what the problem is.
This happens in every sport/genre/industry. How was Larry Bird received by white people? How popular is President Obama with black people? How about Eminem when he broke down stereotypes in the rap game? It goes on and on..
You and your asian friend are wrong lol the majority of people I've seen talking about Lin are not asian. I'm not asian and I really like this guys story not the fact that he's asian american. I really didn't care about Yao much if it wasn't for the fact he was on the rockets. So you just look stupid because everything you said was opinionated and false.
This is what you said. You don't even know what but for cause means. You're making an assumption that if Melo does not play with Jeremy Lin he would not have gotten hurt. That is a logical fallacy because there is no casual relationship between the two therefore you cannot equate it to a but-for cause. If Melo twisted his ankle by stepping on Lin's foot, then that is a but-for cause. If Melo got injured when he was on the same court as Lin, that ISN'T a but-for cause. That would be equivalent to saying if a person in the stand didn't exist Melo wouldn't have gotten injured due to the butterfly effect. You need to go back to law school, if you are even in one..
If you check the twitter timeline, most tweets about Lin are not from Asian people. To think that most of his popularity stems from Asian people who don't even watch basketball is just ignorance. There is no evidence of that at all.
No I mean I couldn't care less  Lin probably wouldn't too, he has already been beaten down and overlooked over and over again in his career. Let me ask you, did the media turn on the Rockets after the 22 game winning streak? What happened after the streak is over? You are like those people who kept saying "oh the Rockets will lose tomorrow", stop being a freakin negative wet blanket.
The people bothered about Lin having Asian fans are the same kind of people bothered by Obama having many black voters.
I only brought up but for cause when somebody asked me if I was blaming Lin so I argued that point as even if he was the but for cause he's not blame because he's not the proximate cause. My first post said that odds are without Lin Melo doesn't get hurt because injuries are random but I was not calling him the but for cause then. I only brought that up when blame was brought into the equation to show that I wasn't blaming Lin.
Most of my black friends are what people would call "white washed" and i've never heard any of them talk about golf. So i don't know about that. The problem is people hating on Morey and the Rockets. That and no one likes homers and their blind views on their new hero. If some player who has the same background as me came along and did this, i wouldn't be going crazy for him. If he's not a Rocket, **** him. Good luck to Lin. Take all your new homer following along with you though.
It's not even the same thing, though. You should be more discerning with politics because policies have a huge impact on people's lives. Presidents should not be voted for based on race. This, however, is just basketball. To hate on somebody because you don't like that members of their own ethnicity are rooting them on casts you in a very xenophobic light.
This is the NBA Dish forum, designed for people to talk about non-Rockets players and teams, including those that people like.
What's your definition of white washed? Do you call them white washed because they don't like rap? What other stereotypes do you have against black people? Go on.
Stereotypes are are opinionated and false. Yet they exist for a reason bro. Many asian heads are exploding right now defending their new hero.
If there was an Asian candidate. He would be president b/c of homers. lol...same thing with Mexican. You can't convince me otherwise.
