he wasn't bad when given the heavy minutes. but lin is clearly better overall.[/QUOTE] And that's only a small sample size. Yes, Lin's small sample size is better. But, do people believe he is going to be putting up DRose numbers with a full season to start? I'm convinced he's a legit starter, but with a full season, i predict his numbers end up being around 16ppg 7apg which i think Dragic can match with full season of heavy minutes.
Are you sure you are in law school? You need to go and look up and proximate cause means, what you are looking for is "Post hoc ergo propter hoc". Proximate cause means you are holding someone's actions liable for your harm. The theme is negligence. You cant in your right mind hold Jeremy Lin reliable for Melo's injury, it's not negligence. You might as well have said "If a woman flashed her breasts at Melo, then he would not have been doing what he was doing and gotten injured. So because the woman didn't flash her breasts at Melo, she is responsible for his injury" Your hate is so GlenRiced.
at this point i think he is a very very poor mans Lin. Lin is playing heads and shoulders above Lowry currently. its hard for rockets fans to accept but thats the truth. we are 10 games in and he is still playing better, at some point it stops being a streak and turns into expected production.
4 point guards is less than 9 forwards. At least, Flynn or Dragic could be traded mid season to have 3 guys. Rockets do a mid season trade of Scola and they still have 8 forwards, Patterson, Hill, Morris, Lee, Budinger, Parsons, and T-Will to play with Adrien.
His shooting mechanics is textbook. Various experts like Frazier, Van Gundy, Magic, and Hubie Brown have commented that Lin has very solid fundamentals, especially in shooting. Plus, Lin said he has worked with a shooting coach all year last year to perfect his release. Speaking of screwy shooting mechanics, look at Shawn Marion. Lin is the the strong nor the fastest PG in the NBA, but as many have pointed out, he is 6'3 and 200 lbs. That's more than legit for a PG. He's got good size but most importantly, he has an incredibly quick first step and he could draw contact and still finish. That has been KEY to Lin's rise. The only knock on Lin has been his TOs and sometimes inconsistent free throws. TOs are easily fixed because he's adjusting to all the defenses teams are throwing at him plus he does provide 80% of the Knicks' offense. It is inevitable you're going to get some TOs when you are basically the offense for the team and the defenders are playing you like you're Lebron or Kobe. As for free throws, I think it's just because he needs to work on his conditioning a little more. He's running on adrenaline a lot out there for playing so many minutes and towards the end, adrenaline could really screw up your muscles and strength. He usually adjusts on the second shot. Overall, he's doing fine. A lot of his mistakes are just "growing pains" from suddenly being pushed into the spotlight and being "the man" in such a short period of time. Give him time and rest and he can be All-Star level. Say what you can, but he has the stats to back him up and his stats are at an all-world level.
Yep, behind Nash. Dragic destroyed the Spurs single handedly in the playoffs a few years back as a backup. He will get a starter job next year. Wish we could keep him b/c i love his style of play, but i'd be glad for him to start somewhere else.
starting with 4 point guards no that wouldnt be too smart, but letting the best of the 4 (as it seems right now) go of the 4 is even worse.
Once he has a real offseason to get attention from coaches and a training staff, he'll improve his strength and figure out how to control the ball against these freak NBA athletes. I doubt he's ever had a staff actually pay attention to making him better.
I would think the shortened season has made players with heavy minutes play less efficient with 1 to 2 back-to-back sets every week and 1-2 back-to-back-to-back sets in the season.
Nope I went to a top 20 law school. I'm only throwing out terms to defend people attacking me. I was speaking in terms of pure randomness and hypos not certainty
I'm pretty sure Morey has been trying to trade Flynn since he acquired him in the Donuts trade. No one wants to pay that much for a 3rd string PG. I hope Donuts proves himself to be worthy in the long run. And it's not as if trades just materialize out of nowhere. How are we just gonna trade Scola for nothing? What cellar dweller team under the cap is looking to acquire Scola and his contract? I can't think of one. The nuked Gasol trade was an enormous setback and it can just simply be dismissed as nothing.
I'm not calling Lin the proximate or but for cause with certainty. If you can take him out and Mello doesn't get hurt that's a but for cause
If a anybody wants to see screwy shooting mechanics, we just need to watch Kevin Martin every game. It looks like he is pulling the basketball from out of his shorts and tossing it up as quickly as possible. It's much worse than Lin.
The point is, your terms that you are throwing out are wrong. So either 1) your education is wasted on you because you're not applying yourself or 2) you're really an idiot who doesn't belong there and got in because he has money.
The '09ers have more value as expiring contracts. During any trade season, there is very little activity in the first 2 months of the NBA season. In fact, more trades happen the last 2 days than the first 2 months. There is still a better chance of Lin getting playing time over Flynn, if Dragic or Lowry had an injury that kept them out for a few weeks, than Adrien getting playing time if Lee or Hill was injured. 9 forwards vs 4 pgs. Do you really think Adrien had a better chance than Lin?
I agree he is obviously doing great and he has a lot of growing pains going forward. Remember he is a converted shooting guard and it is going to take him some time to become a legit point guard. And his stats are not all world yet. If he was averaging less than 3 TO/game then yeah I would agree with you, but the turnovers are a MAJOR problem. Plus I don't even think he is the hottest PG in the league right now. Lin is getting all the headlines, but Tony Parker is having a better month than Lin. He has started off great and his future looks bright. Let's also not forget that he is on a hot streak and it will be interesting to see how deals with things when his 3 point shot isn't going in. He is not this good of a 3 point shooter. I think he will be alright, but it will be good to see how he deals with things when jumpers aren't falling. I think he will be alright because he has shown an amazing ability to get to the line, but time will tell.
Quoted for showing how stupid the "Oh so and so would probably kick butt under XYZ condition". No system can make a player play as well as Lin has been playing so far, and let us not forget how inexperienced and relatively young he still is. If he stuck on the Rockets' roster, he would eventually have gotten minutes by outplaying Dragic in practice (Like he did to Davis). Very unfortunate how this turned out for us but lets not pretend this is not something extremely special.
