Its not even Rocket fans, its pretty much most NBA fans. I've even seen tweets saying Hawks and Laker players getting excited about watching Lin and the Knicks. Albeit the Rockets do have a vested interest in seeing the Knicks fail.
Not good enough. IF they would have given this guy a chance, Stern nixed trade or not....they obviously would have kept him. I don't even have to assume he would do well....he kicked butt in his one pre-season appearance for us. Is there a SINGLE PLAYER on our roster you would rather have than Lin right now? I have been a Morey fan since day 1. This blatant screw up has changed my mind somewhat about him.
No, not every team had him in training camp, and under a cheap contract. The only teams that look terrible here are the Warriors and the Rockets, they cut him for Kwame Brown and Jeff Adrien. Daryl's job is to keep the good talent, to make the team better, he failed here. While Lin would not have gotten his shot like in NY this year, over a 2 or 3 year period he would have eventually gotten a shot - this team should have recognized his potential - that is 100% their job. DM and KM are supposed to know what they are doing, can you honestly say that letting Lin go for nothing was a good move? They saw this guy every single day, and they let him go, for Jeff Adrien. There is just no excuse for that. Honestly that is seriously poor player management.
I dont understand why people are so upset we dont have him. None of this would be talked about b/c he would never play for us. Even if he had backup minutes, i highly doubt he would have taken the role that he has with NY as a starter(which he only took bc he knew it was his only chance). The opportunity opened up in NY that he would never have had in Houston or GS.
Because it is a double edged sword of an issue here. 1. The Rockets had him under their control and let him go for nothing = Terrible basketball player management. 2. He went to the Knicks a floundering team and single handidly turned their season around, probably costing the Rockets a better draft pick = Bad for us Rocket fans. The Rockets blew it, and it is compounded by NY picking him up, just a lose, lose for our team.
You don't even have to look at the Kings' game. Just look at the start of the second quarter in today's game, when Lin went out as Shump assumed PG duties. It's sad to say, but the Knicks are nothing without Lin. The offense without Lin is: the ball will get passed around the perimeter for 13 seconds, inside to Stoudemire, and then outside again for another 6 seconds before a crappy shot attempt.
This is the excuse that the Rockets want you to believe. If the cream always rise to the top, Jeremy Lin would have had minutes with us just because about everyone here knew he could play. I would have loved to see Lin 30 minutes as a pg in any of the preseason with us, instead of the garbage minutes he got from McHale.
I would understand more if he was any position except pg. We have a young up and coming all star in Lowry, so what's the big deal? In a backup role he would probably try and facilitate rather than score b/c he would be afraid to lose his back up role when he knows he cant take Lowrys job. Other than him being Chinese and all over the news(bc he plays for NY), i really dont get it. Good for him, but not the least bit upset he's not here anymore. I'll take lowry all day.
I think the difference here is that not everyone believes Lowry is an up and coming star. Personally, he is a solid, energy, hustle PG. Even in the top 10 in the league, but not an up and coming star, by any stretch of the imagination, he does not have the elite athleticism necessary to star. But to each his own, it will be interesting if Lin keeps it up, then that is another caveat, we kept another quality role playing PG or two over one that has a much higher ceiling, again, not good player evaluation, is it?
The Knicks pick was only good if the Cavs or Bucks were playing decent and that is no longer the case. Odds are with or without Lin the Knicks were finishing ahead of those two teams. At this point just be happy for the kid because there is a good chance hes not really hurting our pick all that much anymore.
Dude lights it up when he's hot. Can drive the ball with great control as well. Probably not as good vision that Lin is showing though. (how do i quote multiple posters so i can respond to more at once??) To those other guys. No. Lin wouldn't have risen to the top b/c he was just another pg and didn't show anything better than Dragic had to offer. That's mainly why it's such a surprise to everyone. No one saw it coming. He's fit in perfectly in Dantonis system where you can turn the ball over a billion times, but you just go out and play freely like streetball.
You are a moron for thinking so. Lin revived a freaking franchise from the death with spectacular play. Have you checked Lin's numbers against the Mavs today: 28 points, 14 assists. SMFH....
Are the Knicks going to have enough money to resign Lin? Some team will overpay big time and Lin's biggest mistake will be to leave Dantoni's system.
