The good thing about these programs is that there is a regimen set for you to follow. You are more likely to fall off if doing it on your own.
Just finished day 20. If I tighten my abs after the workout, and you squint real hard, you can make out a faint outline of a six pack. I've lost about 8 pounds. My goal is about 40 - 50. I'm not going to make it there my first time through insanity, but I'm going to keep going through the dvd set, and the second time around, supplement the dvd with weights. I've lifted weights off and on (when I am "on" I get into it) most of my life. My problem is I hate cardio. I have never really done a cardio program. This program is fun, and it's extrememly tough. It's easy to keep on track, though. The good thing, too, is that because the workout is so tough, you really watch what you eat daily, and that helps more than anything.
Just wondering how the others that were doing insanity are doing? You guys seeing results? I've lost somewhere between 10-12 pounds now (estimated...weigh in is tomorrow), and I'm on day 38. I had to take a few days off due to some shin splints issues, but I'm back on track. Month two is absolutely ridiculous. I kind of hit a plateau lately with my weight, but I think it's mostly because I've been slacking with what I've been eating. Still, my abs are a ton more defined, my arms are a little more toned, and I just feel a lot better (health-wise and self-image-wise). I'm definitely going to do a second go-round when I'm done. My wife is still sticking with me, also. She's dropped like 6 pounds or something (she didn't have a ton to lose in the first place). She's down to what she claims is the lowest total weight she's been since she was in her early teens. She's getting pretty toned, too. Her abs are getting toned up. I don't like full on six-packs on women, but she's got the nice toned abs that are not quite a six-pack, but are pretty much perfect (in my opinion). I love it. No pictures, though. Sorry guys.
Way to go. Lately I have been doing a mix of various P90x and Insanity videos, with some 5-10 km runs and Power Yoga or Tony Horton 1-on-1 workouts mixed in here and there. I don't really follow a set program anymore... just do at least one video each day, making sure to do 2 resistance workouts each week -- usually P90x Back & Biceps (my fave!) and also either Chest & Back, Shoulders & Arms or Chest, Shoulders & Tri. I don't do Legs & Back at all anymore because the lunges tend to tweak my knees. Insanity has been pretty crazy. Man, the sweat really pours off you during those workouts! All things considered, I really enjoy these at-home fitness videos, and I don't see how I could possibly maintain enough motivation to work out every day without these videos. They really are worth their weight in gold. For the first time in my life, I can actually see my abs, and I went from being able to do only 2 pull-ups to now being able to do 22. Overall, I still find P90x Chest & Back to be the hardest video to get through. With all those pull ups and push ups, by the time the second half of the workout rolls around, I am usually incredibly queasy and nauseous.
That's awesome. I agree with these videos being worth their weight in gold. Before starting Insanity, I was someone that couldn't be convinced they were any good. Now, I love them. I seriously finished my insanity routine today (Max Interval Circuit), and by time I was done, I was able to wring my shirt out and sweat just poured off it. Disgusting, but it lets me know I'm working hard.
I usually work out for about 10 minutes to insanity, I then get tired and need a break so I end up fapping to the asian chick. Not able to do much afterwards so I fall asleep.
Can you fit in a lifting regimen along with Insanity or does it take over your workout routine completely?
Just restarted Insanity this morning after a layoff of a little over a month. Jesus, I feel like puking, and I'm fifteen minutes post-workout. Felt like puking the whole time. BUT IT FEELS GOOD.
I'm doing a different work out that I don't think has been listed, Supremem 90 day. I'm on day 20 and so far seeing some pretty good results! I hear it is pretty similar to P90X, but only $10 at Sports Authority. All you need is a stability ball and some dumbell sets. Definitley worth the price! It doesn't utilize the pullup bar, so I try and do some of that on my own. I had a cheap version of Insanity and the 2nd month's dvds don't work completely so I was not able to complete. I admit that I definitely prefer a work out that utilizes weights. The Supreme 90 still gives a good cardio workout while using the weights. I'm kind of like the other guy that really doesn't enjoy cardio too much and insanity is deffinitley, well, Insane!!
I saw the P90X thread pop back up...any updates on your guys' progress? I'm on day 10, my second time around, and I've lost I think four pounds this time around. I'm concentrating more on my core this time around, and I seem to already be getting better results because of it. I'm curious to see how the ones just starting are doing.
