http://espn.go.com/nba/trademachine HOU receives - Pau Gasol, Danny Granger IND receives - Kevin Martin, M. World Peace, Jordan Hill + 1st RD pick via HOU LAL receives - Luis Scola, Hasheem Thabeet, Goran Dragic
I would love if LAL would trade Gasol for Scola + Dragic + Thabeet, but I don't see it happening. They aren't that desperate for PG play to take such a huge hit to PF in order to get a decent starting PG.
Wow, I really like this, it is a WIN, WIN, WIN (would rep if I could) I throw and read a lot of "stuff" on here but this really work out well for all three teams. US +The SG could be filled with James Harden in the off season with a near max to max deal (knowing the Thunder can't match with Westbrook's contact up the next year) - Beasley walks along with the class of bust +If there is any hope in Morris than Beasley can walk +Pekovic will push SammyD for mins. - he may even start by year's end +DWill is still some what of an unknown (he, Morris, Parsons and PPat mixed and matched at the forward spots is intriguing) +Donatas Motiejunas and Sergio Llull, too Minny +Vet help in Pau +Spacing from Budinger +they would look a lot like RA's Kings of old (but maybe even better) LAL +Moving Pau would help Bynum turn into a star IMO (no Howard needed) +Scola AND Martin not being one of the best players on the team makes them both very frightening players +Dragic gets his chance to shine and he will IMO good job, nice read
You can't because Marc has some restrictions. But we should just get Brook and Robin while we're at it. 3 sets of Twins Lowry and Lee.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=83tk3q3 Houston receives: Andrew Bogut Stephen Jackson Milwaukee receives: Kevin Martin Chris Kaman New Orleans receives: Terrence Williams Hasheem Thabeet Jordan Hill Cash [+ plus salary savings, and possibly a 2nd round pick] Finally, this trade hopefully keeps Milwaukee competitive in the battle against NY for the last playoff spot in the East.
iggy still held in high regard by people here? the guy hasnt played like a star in 3 straight seasons! can lacks consistant outside jumper
New Orleans doesn't want Martin (too much $$) and LAL is no way in hell going to give up Gasol for Scola + garbage third stringers.
Rockets receive C Andrea Bargnani PF Antawn Jamison Raptors receive PF Luis Scola SG Paul George Pacers receive SG Kevin Martin PG Jonny Flynn Cavaliers receive PF Patrick Patterson SG Leandro Barbosa Rockets 2011/12 Cap Figure BEFORE proposed trade: $777,210 Rockets 2011/12 Cap Figure AFTER proposed trade: $2.2M Raptors 2011/12 Cap Figure BEFORE proposed trade: $4.3M Raptors 2011/12 Cap Figure AFTER proposed trade: $10.2M Pacers 2011/12 Cap Figure BEFORE proposed trade: $14.3M Pacers 2011/12 Cap Figure AFTER proposed trade: $1.8M Cavaliers 2011/12 Cap Figure BEFORE proposed trade: $6.8M Cavaliers 2011/12 Cap Figure AFTER proposed trade: $12.3M WHY IT WORKS: For the Rockets, they finally acquire the cornerstone player they’ve craved and to add to it, he’s a big man who can shoot the three, has a friendly cap figure AND is under contract for 4 years. Add him to a frontcourt already featuring Samuel Dalembert and the Rockets quickly become a force down low under the guidance of Kevin McHale. Jamison is a consequential “junk” contract, but it works because it’s expiring and he still has some miles left on him. For the Pacers, they add Martin’s cap-crushing contract, but the good news is that they’d only have to put with it for 1 ¼ seasons. On top of that, Martin gives them steady offensive production that George couldn’t be relied on for. Flynn was my toss-in to make the contracts work for Houston, though they could prefer Goran Dragic, in which case the Rockets would have to oblige. Still a fine deal. For the Raptors, they acquire Scola and George - two affordable, top-shelf talents that at least make things a little more interesting for the Toronto faithful. I tried to create a reason for them to deal away the blossoming (though currently injured) Bargnani and, though I may be underestimating what they feel they could or should get for him, I can see them liking the possibility of turning Bargnani’s $9.3M salary into two more affordable starters AND nearly $6M in cap savings. For the Cavs, this trade is a blessing. They get out from under Jamison’s $15 million salary and replace him with a young, projectable talent (Patterson) at the same position AND acquire a veteran two-guard (Barbosa) who can help spread the floor for Kyrie Irving. Oh, and the Cavs double their cap space and suddenly become an attractive free agent destination for guys who can see past Dan Gilbert’s past rants on LeBron and the fact that it’s Cleveland. WHY IT DOESN’T WORK: Indiana walks into the deal with $14.3 million in cap space (tops in the NBA) and walk out with only $1.8 (still near the top, believe it or not). Sure, it’s still space, but Larry Bird isn’t a big spender and I’m not so sure that Kevin Martin gives him enough reason to change that. Paul George is still an exciting talent, but Martin can elevate them to another level offensively alongside Danny Granger (add 6.3 points per game). I still love the deal, but I don’t know if Bird pulls the trigger unless all three teams shower him with picks on top of the players. I also don’t see him biting on the seldom-used Flynn unless he sees something in him that I don’t. He’d probably opt for Dragic’s expiring $2.1 million deal, which cushions the blow, saves him $1.3 million in cap space and makes the deal look nicer in both cap blow and player return (Dragic IS averaging just under 8 points per game). I’m playing hardball though – I don’t want to believe that Daryl Morey would toss Dragic on the table that easily. He’s coming off as too desperate these days – the Morey in my dreams is far more cutthroat.
Houston in: Pau Gasol Markieff Morris LA in: Steve Nash Luis Scola Phoenix in: Kevin Martin Patrick Patterson Johnny Flynn Future first round pick (not Knicks pick but instead a later one) or rights to Sergio Llull http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7vnv56l LA gets improved PG play immediately with a lateral move, subtracting some PF production in order to win now with Nash/Bryant (and can sign Nash to a short term extension after the season with money saved from trading Pau). Phoenix's conflicted front office (can't decide whether to rebuild or tread water) gets to do some of both with Martin, Patterson, and a future first. Martin is a good fit for their high scoring offense-oriented philosophy. Houston in: Chris Kaman New Orleans in: Hasheem Thabeet Courtney Lee Terrence Williams 2nd round pick http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6vbea6e New Orleans will be forced to take expirings for Kaman, they're not going to get first rounders or significant youngs. This is the best deal they're going to get, and the Lee/Williams combo will help them out during Gordon's absence. Houston In: Evan Turner Philadelphia In: Jordan Hill Chase Budinger Rights to Donatas Motiejunas OR NY Knicks Pick http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=84yor9j Philly has way too many good guards on its roster and needs to improve at F/C. Hill gives them a decent bench big and Budinger gives them a different look off the bench as a shooting/scoring small forward, balancing their roster for a playoff run. Motiejunas or the Knicks pick lets them justify sending out such an early round picked player by giving them long term upside to go with their roleplayers. Result: Kyle Lowry/Goran Dragic Evan Turner/Goran Dragic Chandler Parsons/Marcus Morris Pau Gasol/Markieff Morris Chris Kaman/Sam Dalembert This accomplishes everything we want. It improves the team immediately, by transforming our frontcourt from a weakness into a strength. It removes every single third string player from the bench so we can run a nice short rotation to McHale's taste. It nabs us a legitimate post threat and all-star level player in Gasol. It opens up enough cap space for a max contract player and more in the offseason; and if we can't pick one up, that cap space can be spent re-signing Dragic and/or Kaman. It gives us long-term upside and the minutes to develop it in Turner and the Morris brothers.
Let's facilliate the Lakers getting Stephen Jackson, since he has connections there. My proposed four team trade Rockets in: Michael Beasley, $400,000 cash Rockets out: Terrence Williams Lakers in: Terrence Williams, Stephen Jackson, Luke Ridnour Lakers out: Pau Gasol, Devin Ebanks, Steve Blake Bucks in: Devin Ebanks, Steve Blake Bucks out: Stephen Jackson Wolves in: Pau Gasol Wolves out: Luke Ridnour, Michael Beasley Why the Rockets do it: to take a problem child off their old coach's hands while getting some money back and moving a player who won't be here past this season. Why the Lakers do it: to get a player who's familiar with their new system while acquiring a player they can nurture to see if he's worth signing long-term and upgrading at point guard. Why the Bucks do it: to start the youth movement and avoid having to fire Scott Skiles. Why the Wolves do it: to move a problem player and commit to win now mode for Kevin Love.
HOU-LAL-ORL-MIN Possible 4-Tm Deal? Houston main target this coming trade deadline would still be Pau Gasol. Why? Because Daryl Morey said so. Sure, we will try to pry Dwight from Orlando but you and i know it's a pipe dream scenario. So to make acquiring Pau possible while having to keep Lowry, here's what could transpire on march 15th... Rockets acquire: Pau Gasol (Aside from Dwight, Morey would be more than happy adding a legit all star 7 footer to fix our frontline woes) Timberwolves receive: Kevin Martin (This up and coming young team lacks one thing...a legit shooting guard. And who would Adelman love to have manning the 2-spot? Oh yes, his boy K-Mart!) Lakers get: Derrick Williams, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic (why would LA do this? Wait for it...) Magic then acquires: Andrew Bynum, Derrick Williams (I don't know if Orlando would get a better offer than these couple of talented bigs) Summary: All these 4 teams will get the players they've been targeting and will all be happy. Houston will have a starting 5 of Lowry/Lee/Parsons/Gasol/Dalembert... And don't think Morey would be done dealing. Having Gasol and Dalembert alone will solve our interior D and rebounding issues. LA's starters would be Dragic/Kobe/Barnes/Scola/Dwight.. Scary i know. Minnesota would have...Rubio/Martin/Beasley/Love/Pekovic.. Adelman is salivating. Magic loses Dwight but receives 2 good bigs with awesome potential in Bynum and Derrick Williams. Beats having to lose Dwight for nothing right? Brook Lopez? Please. Fillers could be added to the deal to make this trade work of course. Now, before some of you comment that this this be inthe random trades thread, give it a chance to be discussed since this deal actually makes so much sense compared to stupid random deals we just throw out there. Now tell me, does this deal make sense or what? Wouldn't be surprised if this actually happens come trade deadline.
While they don't have a draft pick this year, if they do something that defintively puts them into the playoffs Stern will just nix it in his capacity as stand in owner of the Hornets.
might sound like a stupid trade 76ers get kevin martin, jordan hill and t-will rockets get iggy and turner
Atlanta trades: Marvin Williams, 2012 1st rounder Houston trades: Chandler Parsons, Jordan Hill, Goran Dragic Marvin Williams is exactly what the Rockets need. He's got size, rebounds great for his position, he can defend well, and he's an extremely solid shooter now, and he can go to the rim. ( Not to mention he can actually make his free throws.) He would benefit alot in our more uptempo offense. Some of the easy looks that Parson misses he can knock down. He's been in the NBA six years, and he's still 25 so he's entering his prime. I see him putting up a 17-8 scoreline. He's only the 4th-5th option on Atlanta, but I think he could potentially be third on the Rockets. Also Morey can work his magic with that early 20s first rounder. Atlanta would shed two million off their cap, and if they choose to not extend Dragic and Hill even more. They would get a starting caliber point guard in Dragic, and Hill to back up at the 4-5 since their injuries have piled up. If they let Hill and Dragic go they could save almost six million a year, but they'll most likely keep dragic at least. Also Parsons' contract is a steal, plus he would put up the same numbers as Williams since he only plays 24 minutes a game since Crawford was there and now Mcgrady, Radmonovic, etc.
