I don't think either Kevin or Luis are that megalomaniacal to think they are franchise cornerstones.
They are above average players who were used the right away by Rick the Ruler.
They should be more realistic about what they are but sometimes if you are playing over your head you think you maybe closer being an allstar than it actually is.

Given that he was hand cuffed by Tracy and Yao until this year, I would rate him among the best. He actually got a good deal for Tracy's worthless ass and has done consistently well in the draft, especially when you consider where their picks have been. Sure he's missed on a couple of things, but overall he's done well. Can't ever say we dont have a star because of a lack of effort on his part. If they dont want to be here, there is really nothing he can do.

To be honest, im really not going to judge him too critically until after the trade deadline or this offseason where he will have a clean slate practically.

Your reply makes assumptions about my original post. First I never suggested that we replace Les, I simply said we need a new owner and gm. I do wish we had a different owner and gm, however I never suggested that we go out and replace Les, since he owns the team, How could we replace/trade him??? when did I say that???

Secondly looking back there are plenty of mistakes that Morey has made, that seem to be overlooked on this board. It's my luxury to be able to look back and judge and I accept that luxury because I'm not being paid to run the team, yet going by my previous thoughts and how he should run the team, we would be much better off, if I were running the team(and I am just a fan). One example being to keep jeremy lin.

Commitment is the key to winning IMO. And we are not committed to anything. Are we rebuilding?? Are we going for the championship this year?? What player are we currently developing that will benefit the rockets future?? We're not gonna tank right?? Is our coach a symbol for what kind of basketball we want to play in the future?? What is our identity?? We need a direction. We need someone with balls who is willing to take big chances with this team, because frankly we are not that good anyway. Why not just start from scratch, hit the reset button see what happens. That's what teams should do when it's superstar goes down and it's left with a puzzle it no longer has all the pieces for.

When Morey dazzles me, I will up his rating from a D to an A. Right now, I'm not impressed, no one should be, we need to be tough on him until he gets the job done or atleast until he gains some sort of direction.

I am just guessing, I have no inside information. They appear to have been really affected by the failed trade. They don't appear to be playing with the same intensity as before. I know how I would feel if I was one of the leaders of a team and I found out management was trying to get rid of me.

Teflon Daryl...the sequel to Teflon Shane.

It wasn't Rockets management...or the lack of a contingency plan in case injuries recur. It was all Tracy and Yao. (A.K.A. "Win Now").

It wasn't Rockets management...it was David Stern. Because Stern knew for a fact Nene had a wink-wink deal with the Rockets. And Johhny Flynn was a huge upgrade to Dragic.

"We didn't expect Rudy Gay to get that good that quickly"....
Well, no. I guess you wouldn't if your calculation only has one year of college ball as it's primary factor.

If I had a dollar for every Morey apologist...I'd pay off my mortgage. And celebrate with an extended trip to Hawaii.

Paraphrasing Kwame who said it best. When you value players by a different scale than the other 29 teams...don't expect them to line up for your collection of assets.

As I have said many times, there is NO EVIDENCE that Morey has done anything but a below average job. 2 playoffs and 1 2nd round. Minnesota basically owns us because he continues collect averaging talent across the board. We have the most failed #1 draft picks sitting on our bench. What are we the home of rejects.

Blow it up and start over. Kyle is now playing like an average dude.

A below-average job. That means that you believe that over half of the GMs in the league are better than Morey - that at least half of the league's GMs have done more with less than Morey has. Can you tell me who some of them are? What GMs do you think could have made us better than we are with the resources at our disposal? Keep in mind, Les won't let us blow it up and tank.

I agree. I wouldn't give him a D,but an average job, nothing special. I know bima thug was all for trading tracy if the value was there, but getting a guy like martin was never the answer. Getting hill and ny draft pick seems good, but everyone knew ny was clearing cap space and was going to get 2 high end people. I'm not really going to fault him for all,but the overdrafting of alike players, lack of size, verstility, and directionless path of the team is on him. We don't have a high end young player except maybe donuts. I said yrs ago that we were in the wrong window. I thought we should've been in the same boat with the okc's and chicago. Chasing lakers, spurs, celtics with an oft injured big and role players was a bad route.I guss we will see.

Like I said in an earlier post, none of us know for sure what he has to work with (Les), what instructions he has to follow, what limitations restrict him. But, if he is largely responsible for the bottom-line of this apparently directionless and semi talented team he does not deserve the praise he routinely receives. On his watch, this team has done little and appears to be headed nowhere. Again, the failed trade really let the air out of the tires, but I wasn't thrilled with getting a player at the end of their career.

Who has caused us to have less, that's Morey's decision alone. No one else, please hold him accountable for the trash we have in Houston right now. He selected everyone of those resources.

Once again I ask you for evidence that he's an average or above GM. There ism't any.

I dont get the idiotic thought processes of some of you. You do realize that Daryl Morey has a boss right? Right? You really shouldn't need this explained to you. You realize that he can't do whatever the **** he wants to right. Because he's not the billionaire that owns the team. So that throws a large portion of you're complaints out. He also treats his players ( assets ) the same way any other gm in the league does their own. Big ****ing deal.

Seriously, is it really that difficult to string together this many logical and coherent thoughts. Its a business, players are assets unless you're Kobe ****ing Bryant. Get over that ****. Any player complaining about being called an asset is most like a scrub or a replaceable role player.

Yeah, DM has made some mistakes. ( running RA out is one example, but Les probably had a hand in this as well ) Remarkably few though considering the situation the team has been in. He took the scraps of the team surrounding Tracy and Yao and assembled a pretty respectable team while staying competitive, thus losing the chance to rebuild through the draft. Again, this goes back to the Les issue. You know, his boss.

Saying DM has done a below average job is re****ingtarded. No other way around it. The same guys saying this are probably the same ones saying RA is a bad coach ( yeah you're a ****ing r****d ). You get one idiot claiming this, another idiot agrees, and the infection spreads.

He's not missing out on superstars because of a lack of effort either. Who was the last superstar acquired by Houston via trade? Got it? Ok, now what did the rockets have at that time to actually give another star a reason for coming here? Yeah, exactly.

Basically, you're r****ds. DM is a good gm in a tough spot. Done a decent job. Big deal. Don't care, I do like reminding you all how stupid you are though.

hmm, the fact that he rarely misses on a draft pick, even if the draft spots suck. The fact that we are a respectable team after getting rid of Tracy's rotting corpse and yaos foot fell apart. We got a good point guard and solid sg for beans. Luis scola? Paterson? Parsons? Dragic last year for the rockets most hated ****ing player? Trevor alston ariza turned into c lee. Done a solid job with hand he's been dealt. Now what makes him a bad gm?
Brad miller? He used him to acquire monetjunas correct? David Anderson? Dorsey? The fact that we can't get a superstar ( he really doesn't have much control over this ).
Oh yeah, dont forget the fact that he doesnt have sorcerous powers required to make any team trade us a superstar for no reason. Cool bro.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. We haven't had any high, high draft picks with which to select a superstar, we are not a trendy destination city that attracts superstars, and we don't have any superstars already on the roster to attract other superstars because we lost both to career-ending injuries. That is our situation.

Now, I completely agree with you in that all employees at every level of an organization should be held accountable and high performance should be a requirement. The question is, is Daryl Morey performing badly?

Clearly, you think he is. You called him a 'below-average GM'. If you're correct, we should be able to look around the league and find a number of GMs who have not had the benefit of high lotto picks, existing superstars, or attractive cities but have nonetheless put together contenders through plain old good managing.

Can you tell me who some of them are? Since Morey is in the bottom half, you should be able to tell me quite a few.
