Better overall player? Scola. Trade? Both. Give Hill to a team with the need for a big man. Give Scola to any team, IMO he would make any team better(though hes not doing well this year...), even a team thats strong in PF. Really i think Hill is going to get a deal with us or an up and coming team that needs presence in the paint(though he isnt that great at anything...), his size is attractive to other teams. His contract is nice because its expiring, allowing the team that signs him to pay him on their terms. Scola is just plain good offensively and thats obviously attractive to anyone. On the matter of his obvious decline: lets remember that his rebounds may be due to the fact that he has Dalembert and the rest of our rebounding beasts(Lowry, Parsons) to compete with, and we have a lot more paint presence this year. On to his shooting percentages... nobody can rob him of this and I have no explaination, but looking at his recent past teams will still beleive he can deliver the goods. Wow i didnt expect to type this much... 200 words like a boss!
Scola's done. Nice guy but father time has definitely taken it's toll. Hate to say it but tonight's nba headline for this game should be " Love stomps again, this time on the Rockets"
It is unfair to Scola.... Kevin Love top 5 guy in PER, top 10 guy overall in the leagues goes against a TOP 50 guy last year but TOP 100 guy this year. No question.
With that said, both Hill and Scola are not very good. Hill can still improve though. Scola is maxed out.
Scola can't post up, against ANYONE anymore. If he can't post up we have no chance because defenses will just hang around the parameter. Scola has lost "it". He still hustles but that doesn't dismiss his God awful excuse for defense. He gambles more than Martin now. He gets lost on P&R's that lead to easy buckets. He may score 16 points per game but he gives up 20. It's a good thing we still have the amnesty exception because he's a prime candidate.
Scola could still be a good man off the bench but he is not a clear starter as of late. So you would amnesty him because he has no trade value?
If we can't trade him by the deadline We can't afford to pay a back up PF $10 million dollars for 3 more years. Montiejunas is coming in next year so there is no room for Scola anymore.
This is very sad... Luis was a good option beside Yao and Tracy. At least we knew which direction we were heading back then.
If Scola has no trade value i want him to retire with houston. I want to repay him for the years he gave us, they were great... It would be sad if we threw him away as if he ment nothing. I don't want to lose another guy that means a lot to every rockets fan, like we did with Chuck Hayes...
BLOW IT UP!!! I would only keep Kyle, Parsons, Pat, Dalembert, and maybe Martin. However, if we traded Scola, Martin, Budinger, and the 1st Round Rejects (Twill, Hill, Thabeet, and Flynn) it would be interesting to see what we could get. We need some toughness all the way around! We're getting punk'd by the Twolves. Wow!!!
Nice try. My name over on Texans Talk is actually Say Watt. I don't have a bone to pick in this "argument". I just think you jumped the gun. I don't think Rey ever said Hill was a better player. Obviously, that is not the case. But Hill is a slightly better defender, better rebounder, and better shot blocker. Scola though is WAY better offensively.
Good post, and I agree. I'd love it for PatPat to start getting more minutes. Trading Scola would do precisely that.
Nice try? What would I be trying? Anyways, it is obvious that this was Reys view. He stated that Hill could help the team more than Scola at times and that he wanted to see Scola traded and not Hill. As I have said before I do not think that Hill being on the floor over Scola would ever benefit the Rockets. Jordan Hill has been a major disappointment his ENTIRE career and I do not see any new trend occurring.
