By Jacksonville's doctors, who had a vested interest in "clearing" him and almost certainly did so under with the intention of getting rid of him to the Texans... part of why the Texans org hates them so damned much.
vickers should have caught and moonwalked into the end zone and this would have been a game winning field goal..just sayin'
You don't seem to grasp the issue with Manning. Doctors have already cleared him to play because his neck is fine. It's whether he can regenerate the nerves in his arm needed to throw more than 20-25 yards, across his body, at more than 80% of usual velocity, etc. He can't do those things right now. The doctors are basically out of the picture, at this point. It comes down to whether he can develop his arm to throw like a functional quarterback. The ball is in Manning's court, not the Texans. If he waits until he can physically make all the throws and successfully shows teams that he's healthy, I'm sure the Texans will give him a serious look (as they should). But if Manning wants a contract in March, there's simply too much risk (for a team that's already Super Bowl caliber) that it doesn't work out and T.J. Yates ends up your starting QB. The most crucial comparison to consider is between Schaub and Yates, not Schaub and Manning. I think we all know what Peyton can do, if healthy. It just comes down to that if. And if it doesn't work out, Schaub's good enough that there's a pretty significant dropoff (to the point where this team may not be a contender) with Yates as the QB. I think it'd be irresponsible of the Texans to risk that until Peyton's picture becomes more clear.
Apparently Manning had an unreported 4th procedure done last year. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...-manning-reportedly-had-4th-neck-procedure-11
BUT BUT SCHAUB IS SO BRITTLE HE'S INJURED WE NEED MANNING MOST HOF SUPER AWESOME QB MADDEN DERP IMA RAISE MY POST COUNT BY A BILLION IN THIS THREAD PEYTON GOD PRAY TO HIM WHY ARE YOU ATTACKING MY RELIGION DEEEERRRRRPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!! TAKE IT BACK UPRISING TAKE IT BACK. DONT FOOTBALL KNOW YOU! REAL EDIT: MAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, if you can get Manning and he is healthy you gotta drops Schaub like a bad habit. Schaub is good, Manning is a HOFer. If you don't think the Texans should get him then you are too attached to Schaub and not enough to the concept of winning a Super Bowl.
I don’t get it. At all. Most of us concede/believe that if Schaub had been healthy, the team would have won 11-12 games and been a contender for a top 2 seed. The same group believes that with Schaub, we stood a much better chance against Baltimore and very few of us would have gone into New England thinking, “We don’t stand a chance in this game…” Schaub will turn 31 this summer; knows this offense up and down; has established a potent chemistry with Johnson and Daniels, not to mention Foster, Dressen and Walter; and while, yes, he’s recovering from a major injury, he’s recovery is certain and should not have any lingering issues. Meanwhile, for all this bloated talk about his credentials, Manning is just 9-10 in the playoffs and has routinely watched terrific regular season teams crash and burn in the playoffs, often at his own hand. He turns 36 next month, has had 4 neck procedures the past several years and currently can’t throw a ball more than 25 yards. His recovery is completely and totally unpredictable. Even if he does fully recover, explain how allocating valuable, limited resources upgrading a position of srength (while sacrificing five years) is smart. Further, explain how much better an already projected 11-12 win team with talent to play in the AFC Championship game would be with Manning, who’s career arc is, more or less, 11-12 regular season wins and postseason underachievement. I continue to be amazed at how far too many people undervalue Matt Schaub. And I think far too many of you are delusional about where Peyton Manning is in his career. 2007 Peyton Manning is not walking through that door.
yeah, that's it. It couldn't possibly be for a logical reason, like Manning's health or his age and the fact that while he was the greatest QB of his generation he's now damaged goods. Nah. It's because we like Matt Schaub more than Superbowls. Honestly, do you people *think* before you type drivel like this?
For every post that even suggests Manning to the Texans you ought to have to post a plan of how you would pay him. The Texans won't even be able to muster up enough cap space keep our Center.
can't stop asking this question, because nobody can answer it. a true stumper. i'll try once more though: If the Houston Texans had Peyton Manning on the roster, and Matt Schaub wasn't, would you want to get rid of Manning, and acquire Schaub?

so i assume we're going to ignore Manning's 4 neck surgeries, the degenerative nerve, his inability to throw the ball with any velocity, and that signing him likely handcuffs the Texans from signing their own free agents (no one important like a starting center)? if we're going to ignore all that then of course i don't want to get rid of Manning.:
