Was in court today to provide moral support to my brother in law because he got hit with 8 fines by housing dept. Anyway while we were waiting for his name to be called, one of the court officers asked this black teenager sitting behind us to pull down his hoodie since it was covering his face. Kid replies that he doesnt have to do that. So the officer goes to him and says "im asking you nicely to pull down the hoodie" Kid responda with "and im telling you politely to get the f*** out of my way" Another officer who is mearby comes over and more forcefully says "this is your last chance to pull down your hoodie." Kid says back "f*** you, what the f*** you gonna do, you cant touch me." The officers then grab him and drag him out of the courtroom just before his mom comes back to the courtroom (i think she was in a mediation chamber) The kid was sitting in handcuffs when we left. Smh i really wanted to remind him that nypd probably kill more young black men than anyone else ao obviously the cops do feel like they can do something to you, so just pull down the stupid hoodie next time. I dont know if he was actually from the projects but hes got a good enough attitude to at least show some influence from there
I'd feel more comfortable if it had come from a judge or bailiff, but I imagine for a cop to do that in front of those court officers he probably knew what was within his authority.
One thing to be a rebellious teen who hates authority figures, but you got to have more common sense than this lol. Not very smart..
