Martin is playing bad because trade deadline is near

Maybe he has struggled because he hasnt been involved in the offense as of lately. Its not his fault, and not necessarily the coaches. Its the personel, and lack of a half court offense.

The Rockets desperately need a low post scorer they can feature in their offense to run more of a traditional half court offense. Scola, has declined dramatically in the paint, and has been reduced to nothing but a jump shooting big. He can still do alot of things, but he cannot consistently be featured as an offensive post player.

With a traditional offensive post threat, things would open up dramatically for guys like Martin. Its been tough to watch games like the one against Memphis were they are not pushing the ball in transition and trying to score in a half court setting.

Martin, like alot of players on this team, have to score with ball movement, double screen packages, corner sets, and transition points. In the games where Houston has been able to run this style of play, Martin and so goes the Rockets, have done very well.

Thats why Morey is hunting down Gasol with all desperation. If they are able to finally get someone they can run their offense through in the post, they will have one of the top offenses again in the West. Not having Martin with Gasol would hurt, but getting Gasol first will make everyone else expendable.

 

This. It's not like K-Mart's the only multi-millionaire athlete that's been residing in one state and traded to another.
